I have insurance through work, but it only covers therapy through reimbursement. I have not applied for reimbursement and don't intend to. As one of the therapists I see warns, even to process a claim for reimbursement, the insurance company may ask that confidential information be disclosed. It makes therapy very expensive but preferable to my information going in some database somewhere.

Unfortunately I can't afford therapy without insurance right now. As it is, we pay $600 a month for our insurance. But it's good.

I can barely afford it, especially since adding a second therapist. Somehow having my physical medical history on file doesn't bother me, though probably it should, but mental health is a dealbreaker. So I'll cut corners financially elsewhere as long as I can.
