I'm now in a full on depressive state at a crucial time at work for my bosses.

I do not feel I will make it as I have no support or safe place. I am skipping events involving people, crying nonstop, have a pest infested room - so not sleeping, and/or exercising. This plus my massive commute to and from work every day and residual breakup pain has pushed me to the brink. I feel done.

I followed my old care plan by reaching out to build a support network but was turned away by therapists due to their gripes with my insurer about rate. I have. no other options.

That's awful. It's really messed up that therapists won't take you because of their rate with your insurance plan. I went through a similar issue recently. My T unexpectedly went on medical leave and forgot to give me the referrals she promised, and I could not find anyone to see for 2 months. I called over 30 therapists that my insurance recommended, and none of them would take me. Some were because of my insurance rate; others were because they were full; others were because they didn't want to work with someone who was dealing with "attachment issues" because my T left suddenly in a medical crisis. What I ended up doing was seeing a T I didn't particularly like who did not take my insurance (which meant I had to pay out of pocket). I knew it would not be a permanent situation, but I did it for about a month just to have SOMETHING.

Yes, rouge, do you think you could just try to get in to see someone for immediate help, even if it will cost you a bit up front in the short term? You sound like you really need help. Your search sounds very difficult! I am sorry this is happening.

You're both right. Tomorrow morning I'm going to call my insurance's crisis line and ask for someone right away.

hi rouge,
I would make an appointment with your doctor for a referral. my former choir director noticed that I was depressed and anxious cuz I lost my job last year and the losses of my parents . I went to my doctor for a referral for counseling . my doctor referred to the psychological department at the hospital . I called my insurance provider for a therapist .they asked me which city and my zip code and preference . I told them my city ,the zip code , that I prefer a female counselor cuz I had a bad experience with a male therapist . my therapist now I been working with her for a year now .
im happy with my therapist today .she is also an experienced registered nurse as well as a counselor.

Diagnosis: Anxiety and depression
meds: Cymbalta 90mgs at night
Vistrail 2 25 mgs daily for anxiety prn
50 mgs at night for insomnia

I think when you are struggling maybe seeing your regular doctor is a good idea

I filed a grievance against the therapists who refused to see me and today my insurance company found a psychologist for me and called and gave me her contact information. I'm leaving my first session with her now.

I want to thank you all for listening to me and suggesting things for me. I felt extremely alone and lately I've been planning to give up. You all and your advice helped me keep seeking help until I found it, you saved my life.

Thank you, QuietMind. I hope so too. She was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. I'll know next week after our first real session. Last night we mostly discussed treatment plans and filled out paperwork.
