Well, i found excuses enough to mis four appointments in a row.. and thus, she will not call me back, and has closed my case.

I know i probably could have done more... but I always seem to have an excuse for not going. Im sick, I have no way, blah blahy blah blah.

Now i have no psych doc and I will need a whole new referral.

*sigh*

UGH! I'm sorry you need to start new...

If this seems to be a regular thing is there someone who is close that can help get you to your appointments - so you stay on track?

Why do you think you sabotaged it? Are you ready for it or scared of it or do you know?

absolutely terrified of it in fact. Scared everything will fall apart if i peel back even a small layer, if that makes sense. I need to find a therapist that understands this and will stick with me no matter what, and one that will realize when im sabotaging and call me on it.

I must admit im a little let down that she hasnt even bothered to call me back to let me know one way or another wether she will see me again, its like she cut me out completely and just forgot me.

*more sighs*

I am sorry but 4 no shows are 4 hours that she possibly did not get paid for and that she felt disrespected. I think she DID call you on your self sabotaging.

Had you seen her before and did you not trust her? Perhaps another referral would be a good thing....

Rainbowzz, but you paid for your no-show sessions, didn't you? Or you gave notice and cancelled the day before? Both my former counselor, my current therapist, and my daughter's therapist require payment in full if you don't give at least 24 hours notice for cancellation. If someone didn't show up 4 times in a row and didn't pay a penny (I'm not saying you didn't pay, but just a hypothetical situation), I could understand why they would be dropped from the client roster.

Its hard. On one hand we want T to make us go, to take all the responsibilty. I know my T said when after the first yr of once wklys and we were ready for twice wkly deep work to begin, she did say that she cannot keep me in therapy, can only suggest whether she feels its to early for me too leave the rest is up to me, but she needed a commitement from me that if we begin the deep work I need to keep my end of the relationship and turn up.

Ugh that's hard. 4 sessions is a lot to miss! I'm also curious if you were paying for the missed sessions. If not, that's probably reason for her to drop you off the schedule, but it's still painful. Try again and make yourself go!!!
