I can't quite imagine living in a culture where it is okay for friends and coworkers to comment on other people's hair (unless said hair has undergone a startling change and you have something complimentary to say about it, and even then it is unusual.) Commenting on other people's appearance or telling them what they "should" do, unless one is asked for a comment (which is also difficult to imagine), is so very rude in my world.

Also, I don't see haircuts as self care, but that's just me I guess. It's a necessity to prevent my hair from getting disgusting, but it doesn't make me feel particularly good to do it. (I know that for most people, doing things with/to their bodies can be a source of pleasure. Doesn't seem to work like that for me.)

DD, I agree with everyone else here. I am working on gently dropping a friendship from the other side, so to speak.

If only the comments stopped at hair! I've had some unbelievable unwanted "feedback" from so many near-strangers. Maybe we in the US just have a rude culture in general. Everyone judges and comments on everyone else and it is tiresome.

I am seriously slapping myself as today we saw the gp to find out what the recommendations from the psych dr were. My D has to have Lovan and Seroquel!! I really didn't see her anxiety and depression as being that bad. I am a bit distraught at the moment.

*offers hugs* While I don't have kids, I support my depressed younger brother.

I'm sure you were doing the best you could with what you knew at that time.

It is. But luckily I have a great EMDR T. And it works.

Have had 2 sessions already. My next (and last, for today) session is at 15:00- that's in almost 3 hours.

Mercy even for pooh-bah. Thanksgiving week, if you are in the us, would be a fairly rotten week to get fired. It is a stressful time in general for a lot of people.
Unless you are talking about a therapist, in which case fire away.

morning (or evening) couchies, I have the next few days off work so i'm easing into the day slowly today. i was going to work today, and use the vacation day in december instead but now I have training in december for most of the month that i don't want to miss, so i'm keeping it off. I decided that using today and tomorrow for some good self-care before I face my family on thursday, will be a good thing.

i sent an email to t last night with more workings-out of my feelings for her. it's not as bad as it sounds; quite the contrary. it's my workings-out of getting to the place where i realize that i don't have to be distressed about feeling love for her because i figured out, that every person that i love, i love "the them that i know" if that makes any sense. so, her, i know as my therapist, so it is only within the as my therapist box that i feel love for her. and that's okay with me. yay for pulling back my projections (again). here's to keeping them pulled back!!

Yup, therapist. But I prefer to fire people in person, so it won't be this week.

My T is amazing and has been wanting to do EMDR with me for the past year but I haven't been stable enough. I'm very, very nervous about it. She's a very good and respected EMDR T and reassures me and we talk about it but I'm still scared about it, especially as I start to get "more stable" I know it's getting closer to having the talk about actually starting it. :/
