So, you make a meringue base, then top with whipped double cream and fruit, usually strawberries and raspberries.
It's popular at Christmas time to make four or five round meringue bases, each a bit smaller than the other (or larger, depending which way you work!). Then stack, filling in between with cream and fruit, and top with a lil pyramid swirl of cream and a white chocolate star on top, it looks (a bit) like a Christmas tree!

Yeah...I went to Wimbledon once with a British friend and, jeez, she was all into the strawberries and cream. I just wanted strawberries.

And every time I stay in a British hotel or go to a UK conference, I'm told two slices of toast is not a big enough breakfast.

Americans are weird, huh?

I found kippers were actually not bad. And I like beans on toast too - odd at first but tasty. I am not usually a big breakfast kind of person, but my bff/expartner is and since she is an academic whose area is rooted over in the UK - I traveled with her a lot. And learned to eat breakfast when abroad.

The concept of cooking breakfast is really odd to me. Around here breakfast is usually bread with peanut butter.

A pavlova Christmas tree. I think I might have just died!

I like to pile on strawberries, banana, and kiwi (if I can find good ones).

I don't wear leggings but I live somewhere cold and a friend is having some kind of pop up thing. Idk. I just ordered some leggings. They reminded me of a video game character and I figured it would make me laugh when I wore them under my jeans. That's literally the only reason I bought them. Because I laugh when I think about them.

Am I weird?

A pop up thing? Sounds deadly. I have visions of things popping up out of the lawn as you make your way to the buffet.
So totally not weird

Bad news. There is a breed of cats that do have thumbs.

Cream of tartar and vinegar will stabilise the egg whites, look for a recipe with these. Cornflour makes the mix a bit heavy i think and hte middle sinks.

Now I have to tidy my desk, arrange my notes and start this stupid essay. Then start the next one. Somewhere in there I have vacuum and mop and wash the doonas, and stop moping about my T and things I just can't have. I also have to take my D to the gp and psychologist. A busy day.

There is a secret step to making a pavlova. When you have baked your big disk of meringue, it will be denser on the outside than in the interior. So now you cut round the top of the disk (a couple of centimetres in from the edge) so that it falls downwards. That turns it into a meringue "plate" with raised edges so the cream and fruit don't slide off.

And yes, you have to put vinegar in it.

What are you talking about? The cream and fruit stay on perfectly well just by themselves. (hope I'm not dissing Mrs CE with this comment)
