Hey guys. So some of you may already know the situation from my last few posts but in the most recent post, I emailed my T saying that I didn't want to go in last week but T told me that it was better if I did. Later on I started feeling sick so I emailed again and cancelled and now I have a session tomorrow. It's been almost a month since I last went and I'm sort of nervous. I'm worried about the questions T will ask about why I've been cancelling lately or not wanting to come in. There has been so much going on in my mind over the past few months that I'm nervous to talk about (T knows that I dont want to talk about it but said that we have to figure out a way to). I'm having a really hard time sleeping and I keep having mini panic attacks and need to either walk around my house or get some water to calm down. Anything will help.

Thanks

You do not have to go to a session because your therapist says you have to. Or talk about anything you don't want to.

Is your current panic due to the session or due to your therapist wanting to talk about whatever or due to the whatever it is that makes you anxious these days?
Thanks for this!

It's about the session tomorrow and the questions my T might ask about why I've been cancelling sessions. (and possibly getting me to talk about the things I dont want to) My T doesnt do it in a forceful way at all though. Gently nudges me in a way.

I agree that your therapist should not be a deciding factor as to why you go to your sessions. If you don't make that choice, how effective is therapy for you?
Thanks for this!

I maybe worded it wrong in my question. When I emailed T the response was sort of like this:
"I think it's a good idea for you to come in since you've been having a hart time lately, we can check in"

So it wasn't really forceful, more of T's opinion on it I guess.
Thanks for this!

Then I would go if you want to and decide beforehand what you want to talk about. Ignore gentle nudging if you don't want to talk about what you're being nudged towards.
Thanks for this!

Oh for sure! If I'm getting nudged and at the moment dont feel like discussing I 100% will not. I like how T helps get me out of my shell sort of but there is always a limit.

I'm going tomorrow for sure. Not sure about sharing my thoughts though but I guess I'll go with the flow.

Just an update.

I just got back from the session and my T was very considerate to the fact that I did not want to talk about some stuff. However, my T also said that starting next week we would slowly work together to help me because it's wrong to keep so much inside. I agreed with T and I'm hoping I can talk about all the things I've been holding in for the past few months.

Good on you, Anxious Girl

I hope your T helps you talk about the things you've been holding inside.
