I'm fascinated by this. I wonder why people think the OP doesn't already know this. My sense is that therapy models a certain way of looking at life's difficulties, in which struggling is automatically defined as a failure to see clearly, and into this vacuum steps the therapist with a teaching moment.

No one is saying she doesn't already know this. I kind of assume she does. You may have missed her history and the reason she hasn't communicated this. Sarahsweden has repeatedly stated that she hasn't shared her concerns because of a fear of being dismissed by the therapist if she complains; that is a real concern of hers. What we are just reiterating is that, unfortunately, the only way to address the concern, despite her fear, is to risk that kind of communication.

Sarah Sweden, would you feel comfortable just bringing up some things in a gentle way? I am not saying you are in the wrong at all but given that this is the only T you can work with then communication may help? I know it will be tough given your history. Lots of T's can't hear negative thoughts without freaking. Some can so maybe start with something small and see how that works out.
