You brought up the literary bit. I was pointing out that Prometheus was prominently a part of literature/art/music/science ( a moon of saturn, a volcano on jupiter's moon, a NASA program, and an astroid - to name just a few)
Also even the name of a badly reviewed rather recent movie.

Frost's The Road Not Taken makes me want to bludgeon something.

Having been in speech activities in high school, I have an acquired aversion to Frost. If I never hear Nothing Gold Can Stay again, it will be too soon.

I am not a fan of that one either. Actually except for "Acquainted with the Night" I don't go much for Frost.

And good job on the Prometheus allusion. The same thought crossed my mind.

But couldn't we say feelings for men >> stealing fire >> having your liver perpetually gobbled up = feelings are bad?

One of the several i know by heart. Is it the sing-songiness of it? Or the sorta snobby ending? Just curious. What about Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening? I can recite that one too lol

Art - why do you find the ending snobby?

I almost chose a therapist (or would've chosen her if she had any availability and likely rued it later) because she quoted Mary Oliver -- one of my favorites is The Summer Day.

I could deal with Frost but I'm happy to never have to read T.S. Eliot or Ezra Pound ever again!

Maybe snobby was the wrong word. I think I meant something like bragging... It always sounded like that to me. When i hear it in my head the "i took the one less traveled by" part gets a tone to it. Probably not intended by mr frost. A function of my warped psyche, no doubt. Don't tell t i called my psyche warped. The Couch - Cent Dix (110): A Little Bit of Everything, A Whole Lotta Nothing

Meeting with my counselor in exactly 3 hours and 6 minutes!! I'm a wreck!! Please say a prayer for me that all this scrambled stuff in my head comes out to make sense! I'm already floaty, klutzy and off balance. I'm not go my to fight it though. That only makes it worse. Guess I'll roll with it. I think the ending is regretful. He wishes he had taken the other path, that's why he's telling it with a sigh. Although I can see the snobby bit now.

We're all warped, aren't we? At least I am!
Thanks for this!

Feel awkward heading to T today. I know it wasn't my fault and had nothing to do with me but I feel abandoned and tossed aside no matter how hard I counter those thoughts and feelings with facts. Today might be a session where I just sit there and don't say anything.

I never saw it as regretful. I read it as a teenager so of course i only saw it as advice to young people to rebel. Since it was the sixties and the height of nonconformity, i thought it was pretty cool that a blast from the past was on our side.

I love Robert Frost. Going to be using him in my class this week, in fact.

I hate allergies. Going to be decapitating myself if my head doesn't stop throbbing.

Just took a gander at the pollen count; no wonder I'm miserable.

Heading off to chorus rehearsal in about an hour. I've taken several tylenol; Carmina Burana on a headache is not a good mix. Hopefully I'll be feeling more human by the time I get there.

Our Scottish terrier is a troll. Any time the other dog (a Yorkie/chihuahua mix) is on our lap, the Scottish terrier jumps up and literally sits on the other dog to push him off our laps. Such a troll!!
Thanks for this!

You could make Couch 111 if that would help?

Doggerel warning:

The issue here is simply put in rhyme:
Is therapy a help to young and old,
Or is it just a foolish waste of time?
The answers, as we know, are manifold.
For some, the healing lies in being heard.
For others, exercises help them grow.
Some look for love, while others shun the word.
And some will find no balm, but only woe.
The question thus boils down to this, in th' main:
Will there be some improvement, big or small,
Or is all hope of help and healing vain?
In truth, I cannot answer this for all.
I know it can be good for some - e.g.
For hairy wingless mammoth flowers (me).

I know I never post, although I read often, but I had to respond to this. Welcome back hairy wingless mammoth!

I remember my best friend reciting that poem in speech back in the day. She gave it a definite superior air...

Who can start the next couch? It needs to be someone who has an empty ignore list so it can't be me.

The couch does nt necessarily have to have a name but I think 111 looks like a picket fence so maybe something like boundaries....just a thought.
