Has anyone viewed this movie? I have seen several films that are related to mental illness, and this, by far, is my favorite. I love it! I can't quite figure out why.

Same here, and I'm not sure why either.

I saw it when it first came out. Angelina Jolie's performance still sticks with me.

It was Angelina's last decent role! In any case, I love that movie and have always been a big Winona fan.

In a good way or a bad way? I know she was all set out to be mean and crazy, but I REALLY liked her role in this one!

I liked both the movie and the book.

Yes , I like this film very much - Oscar winning too for Angelina. I recall from the directors commentary that the woman the film was based on said she made the friends of her life while she was there.

One of my good friends was hospitalized at the place where the movie was filmed, at least the tunnels. Her parents were well off and sent her there for a month.

ohhh....I love this movie! I actually heard of it right here on PC! I don't find it hard to watch, but one movie that is also about mental illness/depression that I also really like is Seven Pounds with Will Smith. I swear I can feel his character's pain when I watch that one! But the Girl Interrupted one....I love the differences in all of the patients. I think somewhere on here is a thread about therapy-related movies, and I think that's where I saw this one.
