That's what I've heard about the Music Theory test -- absolutely the hardest. My son is taking AP Music Theory next year, among several other AP courses.

I did both Latin and Latin lit, which is now retired. I still have vast chunks of Catullus stuck in my head. And what was with that stupid sparrow?

Odi et amo...

I checked out somewhere mid-way through secondary (high) school. I was never going to achieve at the level that I felt was expected of me (perfection), so why bother. I did manage to get a decent enough Leaving cert. Enough to get me a place in a degree course, and away from home. I'm glad I'm not back there. It was a sh^tty time.

Yup. Our high schools are pretty competitive and very strong academically. These kids put a lot of pressure on themselves despite our best efforts to talk them off the ledge.

I was just talking to my son a few minutes ago again. Reassuring him that he just needs to go in and do what he knows to do and let the chips fall where they may. Just by taking the AP courses, he is so much more prepared for the rigor and coursework he'll encounter in college. Even if he doesn't qualify for college credit wherever he ends up going, he has worked with an awesome AP teacher this year and has learned so much. Qualifying on the exams, if it happens, will be icing on the cake, but if it doesn't happen, it's okay. (I cannot tell you how many times I've repeated essentially these same words to my son and students over the last several weeks.) They are SO much harder on themselves than we are.

He's only taking 2 this year (opted out of psychology). Next year I think he'll be taking at least 4; maybe 5. Ouch on my pocketbook! These exams are rather expensive.
Thanks for this!

I'm having a curl up in a fetal position under a blanket kind of night. Unfortunately I only have two blankets and one smallish cat.

I could sneak you a few stuffed animals and a couple pillows out of the eight year old's bed if you like. She won't miss 'em. She chucks 'em on the floor anyway

Found myself in Ts parking lot a few times... Don't know why it's comforting to me. I know where she lives you'd think I'd go to her house instead.

Nah, makes complete sense - at her office she's your T, at her house she's somebody else

Is that why I can't say "Hello" to my T when I am out shopping? I have even changed shopping centres so I don't run into him. Even though it is sometimes a daydream i have.

I would imagine so... It can be somewhat distressing to meet your T out in the real world. Like a kid meeting her teacher in the store, except we're not kids anymore, so, what to do...? Confusing...
