You know how you laugh so hard your legs give out, near the pharmacy I saw this man who looked so much like cesar milan struggling with 3 huge pig dogs. They almost had him tied up in knots at one point.
Thanks for this!

I too have never known what to do with myself. At least with nursing there are lots of specialities to switch between when you are bored withh what you are doing.

Did you get your college degree? If not, there are at least some schools interested in attracting "non-traditional aged students" with generous financial aid packages.

As suspected, I do indeed have strep throat. Yay.

I think I've figured out more or less what I want to do when I grow up. I already have phase 1 underway, but I'm being very very lazy recently - or maybe just really busy and overwhelmed and now sick...

I have a bachelors, yes. But what I've been thinking/dreaming/talking over with t would involve a masters. I don't know if I'm even up for tackling a graduate degree while working full time. Maybe t's right, maybe it's not so much fear that I wouldn't be able to do it, as much as it is that I am lazy. Well, she didn't exactly say lazy. She used the word "lethargy" which infers more that 'just' lazy. I suppose she was trying to goad me into challenging her by using that word (this ain't my first rodeo and all) - but I didn't - so maybe she's right. Maybe I'm just too tired - tired of h, of my current job, of myself... I dunno...

I want to email t.. I want to tell him that I am struggling, I am struggling so bad that I have thought about texting him. But I haven't because his comment on me being a wallower. I have been emailing him about once a week, for probably the last month or two. I kind of feel like I am demanding a lot of him.. Especially with the wallowing comment.

Wallowing is another one of those things I don't think therapists should say.

I think they use such terms as a deliberate provocation. They think they are deliberately using a specific intervention (a word I think is funny for them to use - their language really pisses me off) by using such a term.
I say don't fall for such manipulation.

I do agree not a good term to use with a client.. At least without an explanation. T is generally very careful with what he says.!

I don't think a weekly e-mail is too demanding at all, assuming your T is OK with outside contact. If you choose to not text or e-mail him, I would tell him in your next session that you wanted to, but were reluctant to do so because of his "wallowing" comment. Maybe he can clarify more what he meant--may have just been a poor choice of words.
Thanks for this!

I do wonder if t was just being careless or if he did have a reason to use that word.!

Gah! Professional valuation has knocked $60 000 off the price of the house we're trying to sell.

(continuing from my earlier thoughts) ... and it's not that I dislike what I do now. I don't, not at all. No maybe I don't turn cartwheels because I get to go there, but at the same time, I do get satisfaction from helping the senior citizens that I talk to every day, I am very good at my job, I make a more than decent hourly wage for where I live, I am highly respected at work and assist with training and mentoring my fellow advocates, I make bonus every quarter which helps in the money area, etc. and an important part of this has also been that I can leave this job at the office when I come home every day.

I don't know. T seems to have a stick up her you know what about my job. I wish she would just get over it already... I should assert myself and just tell her to back off. She's not a guidance counselor and I am not in high school. So, I would love to take some classes for self-enrichment, not to try to start over in a new career. Why is that so wrong?!

Sorry for the rant.

I agree.

ETA: I'm not particularly fond of mine using the word "lethargy" in regards to me not going back to school yet. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. I haven't yet decided if it would be worth the time, effort, and money and unless SHE is going to pay for it, then she needs to keep that judgemental little bit to herself. Hmph.
