It actually happened with two different female therapists in a row which why I pretty much refuse to see a female for therapy now. Those two had no boundaries and clearly hadn't worked through their own stuff. It's a shame because I am sure there are great female therapists out there, but when I was looking for therapists later on, I decided I didn't have the time or money to waste on bothering with that scenario again.

I saw a t as a child in her home. And there was clutter everywhere. Very distracting.
She also had a small poodle dog who would roam the house and when i was talking she would discipline it in french. It was odd for me as a young child and not helpful or professional.

I had a middle school guidance counselor who was into clowns. Like, clown figurines EVERYWHERE. He'd installed free-floating shelves all haphazard on the walls just to hold his clown dolls. I remember one was this, like, ventriloquist dummy clown. Probably the inspiration for the Saw movies.

He even dressed up as a clown for school assemblies. It was so ****ing creepy.

i met with this woman T in the interim from my initial T at the program i was in .. i was waiting to see my current T. she wanted to know my trauma with my former therapist. i told her the basics. but she wanted to know all the details. first meeting. i felt like she was like a girl gossiping in a middle school bathroom. i refused to see her anymore and went without a T until mine agreed to work with me

We had a social worker who gave kids random nutrition advice. Like we'd be sitting at IEP and discuss how to improve kid's grades and she's interrupt with random statements: why don't you eat some salad for dinner. If you lose weight you might like yourself better. Or do you like steamed veggies for lunch? Or how do you guys cook your chicken? Do you fry or broil?

Say what? So off topic at the moment and inappropriate in front of bunch of people

She barely made it through one school year

I was in full on goth mode, and I was there with a goth friend and i think he was intimidated and overcompensated in his attempt to be cool. We only wanted some advice about a friend in trouble. He really had no idea how to respond, and this uni counsellor in quite smart attire spent the entire session with one leg spread wide and over the arm of his chair. He was seriously on display and seemed unaware of the view we had.

I think that's a great idea for an article but the article itself is sparse and somehow not that enlightening... A bit disappointing because it made me wonder!

I had one appointment with this 'Jungian' therapist. Mostly I remember lots of dreamcatchers hanging around and wooden figurines and mythological looking stuff. Wasn't just the bric-brac that put me off but that he seemed kind of dim in general.

A couple of years later I read some of Jung's actual writing and it was impressive in its general clarity!

When I was a teen I saw a psychiatrist who worked in his home. He lived in a wealthy neighbourhood. My first session I noticed he had a few chairs covered in plastic. He told me I could not sit on the plastic covered chairs because he didn't want patients ruining his furniture. I sat on a old chair that looked like it was about to fall apart. He warned me he had security cameras throughout the room and would know if I touched anything if he left momentarily.

I found him dismissive and rude. Never returned.

I met with a potential supervisor yesterday, and I was uneasy about her and couldn't put my finger on it but I knew she reminded me of someone.
Then driving home I realised she reminded me of TV psychic Sylvia Browne. No wonder I was uneasy.

I found out later that day its basically a promo for a book. I'm more visually orientated and tend not to look at text too much, I just liked the pictures.

I think I would prefer Miss Cleo for my shaman/psychic therapist.
Her scheme might have managed to be even more expensive than just going to appointments with therapists.

One T I had, had a rock on her desk that she glued eyes, hair and mouth on and she thought it was alive and named it some weird guy name. She would talk to it during our sessions and ask "him" what she should do with me. She also was always touching me and when I asked her to stop she would laugh and say "You don't mean that" and move her chair closer so she was almost on top of me. That lasted about 4-5 sessions and I slammed her door and kicked the trash can over and asked her if she typed up her "license" and printed herself. She was NUTS!

I wish it was a dream. It was pretty traumatizing (more so the constant touching after I begged her to stop) and it made me take a long break with no therapy and then when I started therapy with the T I just ended with 12 years ago the first thing I asked her was "Do you have a rock you talk to?". We still laugh about it to this day but in all seriousness I should not have to ask a T of they have a talking rock but I was scared of it happening again.

So scary that this woman was allowed near vulnerable people. It's so extreme that people find it funny but it was also shockingly exploitative. I hope what happened to you was an isolated incident because I hope she has had a career change since!

Nutty T also tried to make a big deal of my using the word " termination " when I left my job. She was going like " Well , you're calling this a termination " and I'm like " It's called a termination , that's what it's called ". When I relayed it to other T's I said it would be like " Well , you're calling this a table ". Completely ridiculous. I think the other T's thought she was nuts as well.

Not a therapist but a doctor, he was good and I wish I could have kept him. But one funny thing was that he had two identical chairs and when I chose one he got all pale and went "You can't sit there, that's MY spot!"

I have to admit that when I came back next time I threatened him (jokingly) that I would sit in his spot. I said "What would you do if I did? How would it make you feel?" He got this panicky gaze again and said "It would be totally OK!"

Yea, I can be mean sometimes.
