As some of you know from my other posts I'm going through a hard time right now. I had T today and I was glad to go, but nevous because I have a hard time expressing my sadness in front of her and didn't think I'd be able to hold it in today.

Towards the end of the session she was talking about some new research she had read about and techniques she was learning about in a class she is taking to help deal with trauma and she said "I thought of you...". AAAHHH I loved it! I loved it!

I've read other people's posts when their Ts have said this to them and always wondered about whether my T thought about ways to help me outside of our hour together. My practical side knew she did because she is hardworking, experienced and a great T, but it was so great to actually have that confirmed.

I'm so glad that you had that experience as I have felt it too and had my therapist say that he thought about me between sessions. It's a great feeling so chrish it all you can.

I'm glad you found validation for your T, that your T cares about you and continues to look for better ways to help. I loved it!

That feels so good! (( Lemon ))

Did you tell her how good that felt?

Did you talk to her about your worry that you wouldn't be able to hold your sadness in when you were there?

I loved it!

You are so right, it does feel awesome when your T expresses him or herself to you and about you in a positive way.

Mine has said this and I feel like a little kid sometimes and want to jump up and down all happy I loved it!

Good for you, I'm glad. Were you able to share your sadness too?

Thanks everybody for your replies.

No, I wasn't really able to express my sadness. I admit I was actually glad when I was in my session and realized I wasn't going to break down and cry. It's something I have to work on, but wasn't ready to do that yet. Of course, she definately knows how sad, angry, scared, anxious, depressed (LOL anything else!) I am right now. I can talk about that verbally, just can't exhibit those emotions right in front of her. I guess I do show anxiety in front of her, but not so much the other ones.

We're going to try some new techniques to help deal with all this, so I'll let you know how it goes.
