Do go down to Austin if you can. It's an interesting city. SXSW in the spring and Austin City Limits in the fall are good excuses to make the trip.
Austin is on my Texas bucket list!!! Will bring the raid unless the heat makes the can explode in the trunk. The heat btw renders my car useless as a cupboard on wheels. Now even non perishables go in the house right away!!

YES, GRANITE!!! You stood up to your mother!! WOOHOOO!!!! You are RIGHT, and she is wrong; you absolutely are doing the right thing by not abusing your child--your mother's mind is so warped, and i am sorry she fed that all to you. It is okay that you panicked and apologized, this stuff is deep, deep in your psyche. I am SO PROUD of you for sticking up for yourself. Trust yourself. Eff what your mother says. She treated you so, so wrong, and she can continue to exert control over you by making you question your choices as a mother. You recognize your son needs help right now, and you are doing it. I wish you wouldn't beat yourself up over it, and realize as an adult, he can find an apartment and look for jobs, and it isn't for you to do for him, but you CAN be supportive and help him when he needs it.

Conga line sounds like fun, but supportive liturgical dance sounds hilarious.

We're having a lovely, beautiful, wonderful thunderstorm right now. I was just outside taking a movie of the lightening. I am thankful for the rain, and nature's light show, and well just feeling a lot of gratitude in general tonight. Also grateful to my t, my couch friends, friends both at work and at my drumming circle, my psyche/dream-maker that continues to show me so much in my dreams, it seems to happen this way lately, when the gratitude feelings start, they blossom and grow and the list goes on and on. And I'm even beginning to be grateful that I am the me that I am.

G'night couch, peace be with you all, and may your dreams tonight be what you need the most. See y'all tomorrow.
Thanks for this!

How about synchronized couch dances?! The Couch 119: Come Join The Human Shelf!. I'm seeing the Rocketts or some synchronized swim thing?? I don't know.

I'm in a weird kind of gather myself up mood tonight.

I've actually had giraffes on my mind today. I'd like to share that with y'all tomorrow. It's pretty cool.

I read its a very dangerous sport nowadays. You get kicked in the head cuz people swim too close. You get concussions like football players. They have it at my Y. Do they have synchronized kickboarding? Or are those called "guppy lessons"?

Eta - besides, me n crocus are takin our sand dance on the road. As soon as we decide who is pulling whose leg!

I might join a conga line, but absolutely no activity in water. I can support the synchronised swimming from the sidelines.

After two weeks of hot and dry weather, we had lovely rains yesterday and the day before. It is so much nicer to be outside today - the sun is shining and it's nice and warm without being too hot, and the grass is no longer brittle and crackling under my feet when I walk to the mailbox. The cats are more lively, too. The cat R (whom I carried inside my cardigan when he was a kitten) comes bounding up to me and mews like a duck to let me know that I am supposed to pick a stalk of grass and let him chase it. His twin sister, B, makes plaintive noises to inform me that she has NEVER BEEN FED NEVER I TELL YOU. I mean, she has heard of food, from other cats, but she has never ever had any herself.
Thanks for this!

Was effing stressed at work when a business-critical website went down for a few hours.

Bosses blamed me but glad I could show clear proof it wasn't me and even then, they still doubted.

I hate my job.

Awww! I love kitty stories. Was just looking back at photos of my dog that the ex mistreated and made me get rid of because he didn't like him. He was such sweet dog I have upset myself now and am going to bed.Night all.

Morning couch. Finally a full night's sleep. Woke up stiff and have a stuffy nose, must remember not to sleep in front of the a/c from now on. Anyone want coffee?

That's an awesome cat story!! Mine act like that too, especially the big black one. He also informs us with similar plaintive noises that he has never once been outside. (at least not since the day before and every day before that).
