Hey guys, I've been a bit out of pocket lately. I've been updating my training to score SAT essays. I did it in the past for the old essay format, but they've changed the essay so I had to recalibrate. I definitely like this format better. I decided I could use the little extra income this year. Our youngest is a senior and there will lots of financial extras that come along with it, so a little extra income will be helpful.

I've also still be dealing with nagging nausea issues related to the kidney stone thing. I think I'm finally through it though -- took a few weeks.

My husband is having two cataract surgeries. Left eye this Thursday and the right in a couple of weeks. I'm glad we are getting it over with before I'm back into school too far. I really only have two weeks left, but they will be busy ones with the surgeries and hauling several choir kids over to another town for two different all-State choir camps. I will be so glad when my youngest finally gets his license; we just couldn't even get a test scheduled until the end of August (and we set that one up three months ago).

Aww Crocus, that is terrible that you walk around expecting to be ridiculed at every turn! I'm so sorry. I would never mock anyone who is missing someone in their life. Nor should you regret putting this out there.

Oh granite, I'm sorry! I had actually returned to the computer to write my apologetic post before I saw yours... it takes me an awfully long time to write posts sometimes. I found your post to be kind and supportive. So there.

Afternoon, couch.

I am home and caught up on the couch. I had C this morning and then came home and relaxed by surfing the net. Now I am catching up on the couch and getting ready to finish out my school work for the week.

I missed the talk about sweet tea. I believe tea was designed to be sweetened. Then again, I grew up with Southern parents. Lol.
Thanks for this!

Everything about creamed herring sounds good, except for the herring bit.

Eta: the Scots should come up with creamed haggis!

Thanks for the creamed herring pointer - it looks like a variety of pickled herring, and some picklings are rather creamy, so it wasn't all that strange after all.
Thanks for this!

When you talk about sweetened tea, do you mean putting sugar or honey or other sweeteners into regular black tea, or some kind of tea blend with sweet additives that you brew? Tea with flowers or flavourings are insanely common here and I simply cannot drink that. But I don't mind honey in my tea when I have a cold - not otherwise.

Sweet tea is a kind of iced tea--as you brew it, you add sugar (sometimes a LOT!). It's really popular in the Southeastern US.
Thanks for this!

It was a bit odd of a thing for hugging. But I figured to each their own and I just went on.

What an interesting day. I figured out something - that letting go of my old story means i don't come at life from a victim place anymore. I have found my own hero-ness and it has changed me. Getting yelled at on the phone all day for mistakes the company made, i am no longer taking on myself. It is very good.

If sweet tea is an iced tea thign then, no. I don't enjoy iced tea or herbal teas. Hot strong black tea with sugar is great though. I don't really enjoy her as much as her husband but somewhere on youtube Victoria Coren Mitchell does a rant on black tea.

My dad is being admitted to the hospital right now. Possible cardiac event. 85 years old. These episodes are starting to happen more frequently for him.
