You have a PhD. My brother wanted ME and mom to call him dr when he got his edd. So you had your rite of passage at some point? If we are stunted in our development, would it not follow that we have not completed that rite of passage and look to a t for answers, as a guide? Not everybody, but if the shoe fits.

A PhD and $5 will get me a grande chai latte half-skim with whipped cream (does that drink even exist?) at Starbucks.

And your brother is an *** (no offense). Education doctorates are often viewed as a joke in the real academic world (not saying they are, that's the view). And yet the recipients of them insist on the title of "Doctor" more than any other academic specialty I know of. Mega-major inferiority complex.
Thanks for this!

I know. I went on and on and on about that edd stuff to my t, then found out years later thats his degree too. But he actually works with kids and schools and stuff. Still i think i owe him a little apology. Ive said some horrible stuff to him over the years, i think thats one of the last things.

Speaking of saying horrible stuff to t, I didn't actually say them today, but I told her I was THINKING some very unkind stuff about her while I was still so angry with her. Oh wait actually I did say one of the more mild ones "Who the hell does she think she is?!" She took it well.

I wouldn't say that so much directly -not any more than any other cozy village murder mysteries are. They are based on books by MC Beaton.

This has been an interesting and busy weekend.

It sleeted all day yesterday and shut down life as we know it here in the South. Some of the interstates were still closed today, but most of the more local roads were open. It is supposed to be back in the 70s by next week, that will be awesome!!

The H has been on an extended holiday and has spent most of it kicked back in his recliner watching a continuous stream of Gunsmoke, Bonanza and Andy Griffith! Couch 127: The Wayward Couch He seriously needs to go back to work. That's coming Tuesday. Thank goodness!!!

Two years ago, on this weekend, I did something that I never dreamed I would be able to do. I ran in the Mississippi Blues Marathon. I only ran the half but I never dreamed that would be something I would be able to do. I didn't sign up last year and this year it was kind of bothering me that I had not had the confidence to do it again. I had not been a runner and started training for it a few months before I ran it, and I guess it's me asking myself, "How did I do that?" that keeps me feeling incapable of doing it again.

It did make me feel a little relieved when they cancelled it this year because of the icy weather. My heart is sad for the ones who trained for it this year and didn't get to run it. Maybe I'll sign up for next year.

Everyone's pet pictures are beautiful.

Junk - I've never eaten plantain, but they do look like bananas.

Art - I'm glad your time went well. I've not thought about the "equal" thing. It is a thought to think on.

Hope everyone is warm and snuggled in.

My ex-sister-in-law made delicious fried plantains. Restaurant ones around here are mushy, greasy, and bitter. Mine are even worse!

Are there any smokers here that have used vaping to get off cigarettes? My son talked me into buying one today. It makes sense, I guess. The addictive ingredient is nicotine. Nicotine is not really any worse than caffeine. I don't think. It's just the chemicals that are in the cigarette that are bad.

I'm wondering if the chemicals are addictive in themselves. I started out with a 6 nicotine level and it satisfies a part of it, but not all of it.

Just curious if anyone else has tried it and has any opinion.

I am very suspicious that the whole nicotine-is-no-worse-than-caffeine thing came along when e-cigarettes hit the popular market a few years ago. I don't believe it, and I don't know any doctor who does.

I say something like that pretty much every session. It's how they react to the harsher stuff that matters.

Me! About 4 years off cigarettes now, after 20+ years of 1-2 packs a day. I'm not a doctor, but I've got tons of anecdotal evidence showing I'm much more healthy vaping than when I was a smoker. I know cigarettes are unhealthy, so to me I don't care that vaping might not be 'healthy' because it has to be better than smoking.

Yes there are other chemicals in cigarettes that you might be craving, but I personally think your nicotine level is too low. I never stopped completely on a low level, it just never made the urge to smoke go away. A good flavor helps a lot too.

Good luck to you on your switch!

I can't because I have some on my ignore list - but if you are ignore list free - then have at it.

Resurrection kitty is still too weak to play like a healthy kitty so he spent the morning lying on my lap while I dangled a ribbon for him to play with. Now he has captured it and is resting with his prize.
