I've never been a big fan of new years, but this year was really bad.

I've been very depressed all day, and just can't get it together. I'm in worse pain today from my surgery which disturbs me, as it's been a few weeks.

I'm also weaning off my effexor so I can change meds.

My therapist is on Xmas vacation, so I won't see her for about a week. All ive been thinking about is how maybe I should just end my therapy and p doc. What good is it doing me?? I'm just wasting time and money.

I'm sorry you feel so bad. I don't know what kind of surgery you had, but I had surgery a few months ago and was in more pain after about 2 or 3 weeks than I was right after the surgery. My doctor told me that I was probably doing too much too soon. True. So maybe that's the case for you. Maybe weaning off the med is causing your depression? Hang in there! I hope you feel better soon!
Thanks for this!

Sounds like your depression talking when you want to give up both Annie. If they are not helping could you find a different t/ pdoc? I think giving them both up in the midst of your depression and recovery from your surgery would leave you with no support. I was on those anti depressants before and had to come off of them because my depression got really worse.
Do you have any supports in your life to help get you through the next week until your t is back? Remember too that today is a very triggering day for many different reasons and so tomorrow these feelings will pass

You are not alone.
I usually have a hard time as well at New Year's but this time around has been particularly bad, feeling utterly and totally depressed and hopeless.

I'm glad that the "worst" part is over - at least I hope so. Things are bound to go back to "normal" again after this holiday season. This I know and this I try to hold on to.

It doesn't feel like this (things going back to 'normal') when you're stuck in the middle of it, I know. Are there any people you could call for support? To help you through this depressive phase until things start to lighten up again? Are there any "nice" things you could treat yourself to today and the coming days (a favourite meal, music you like etc.)

The sun is shining today where I live. I will try to take care of myself today, to meet my different needs without judgement but with self-compassion. I hope you can do the same!
Meanwhile I'm sending you a big hug - you are not alone!
