It's 3:30 AM and I'm awake because I can't breathe. Yesterday was my birthday, and I spent the day at the doctor and in bed sick. I have bronchitis that started out as allergies that went wrong. I had laryngitis during my son's wedding but didn't particularly feel bad, but by Thursday I was miserable. So, doc put me on steroids and antibiotic and heavy-duty cough medicine. Then, just to add to the birthday fun, the meds upset my stomach and I threw up all day. Yay me! Today is my son's birthday, so hopefully I will feel up to going out tonight, but it isn't looking good.

That sounds awful. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Lola, I hope you feel better soon! I have a sinus infection that went from being annoying to severe and scary in the space of one day (asthma) so I am also in bed waiting for the antibiotics to kick in.

About a month ago part of my complaint against Smaug was referred to the civil rights division of the federal DHHS (the part where she would not give me my own medical records) by the state medical board for jurisdictional reasons (involved HIPAA). Just got their report - they found her culpable, but as it is her first offense in their records she gets only a letter of warning and an offer of "technical assistance."

So I guess that's something.

Still probably months away from a state medical board decision.

Yes - but being told they did anything wrong stings those people. They have very fragile egos.

I swear, I'm just going to stop offering to help H with stuff. He actually seems to get angry at me for offering to help. He had just walked in the door and was making D's lunch, and I offered to take care of it so he could sit, but he got annoyed with me. Same when I offered to bundle up the recycling yesterday because he had just come in and said he wanted to sit for a bit before we went back out. He was all "Just let me do it!" These are not isolated incidents. Why am I bothering to offer? And why is he getting mad at me for offering? (I couldn't have made D's lunch before they got home because she always changes her mind about what she wants at the last minute.)
