My parents wouldnt even put a waste basket in the bathroom for me. I had to sneak stuff into and out of the bathroom. But they never had to deal with it.

Read a news article about the increased awareness of child abuse resulting in a spike of reported cases. My country is trying to break the entrenched mindset that family violence is a private matter.

I've gotten to used to support groups who list TWs... forgot mainstream media reports graphic descriptions of child abuse...

One line made my heart jump - they acknowledged that excessive physical punishment can be abuse. That's the first time I've read something like this in my Asian country. Because even a discipline book by child psychiatrists and child psychologists in my country would say "alleged "child abuse" cases seen in [psychiatric clinic for children]" when talking about excessive physical punishment.

SD -- (no snark) am really sorry about derailing your thread.

(I would blame my going off the rails on the after-effects of certain substances I'd ingested but really, no, it's just my stellar personality.)

Anyhow, won't happen again.

It could be that you dissociated. Because I dissociated a lot, there is a lot that I don't remember, and sometimes two (or maybe more) events run together in my mind. For me, it has been helpful to just say that ___ is the way I remember it and go with that memory. I get confused and scared when I try to figure out exactly what went down. Regardless of the actual event, the trauma is real.

I'll probably only leave that up for a little bit.

Are you doing better today? I'm sorry your friend wasn't taking you seriously. How much longer until you come home?

It is not a problem. I just did not want it to keep going down that path.

Sitting in a suite at the Heart Hospital (an hour early) waiting for my daughter. We just learned she has an enlarged heart and needs an Echocardiogram to diagnosis the problem. She's only 37 y/o.

I'll be with her hoping I will listen, ask relevant questions and be a calming influence.

Praying, hoping her heart is not too bad and this is fixable.

Read a thing by mds earlier today - they bemoan the loss in status of their profession. People just don't respect doctors like they should (or like they used to do in the good old days) - pa's, rns, lcsw's have diluted their status (really that is what mds said). And patients are not grateful enough and think they (patients) get to choose their own treatment.

I am reminded of Cartman "respect my authority"
