What about "mum I feel I would benefit from some therapy but haven't got the funds to go about this"?

hmmm, me to. Well I have a few more sessions that are covered but then I won't be able to afford it. My parents have always said that they will help me with costs while I'm still studying but I hate asking for help. And I don't live with them so they can't even see I am not going that well.
I think that if you live with your mom, although she may not have said anything, she is your mom and will have noticed that you are not as happy as usual and should not be too hard.

I think I am going to tell my parents that my dr wants to send me to a T. it might be easier if I say that someone else is telling me to do go, I'm not sure if I'll tell them that I don't really want to but the dr suggested it so I want to be a good patient and at least give it a try - not a total lie as my dr did send me to one, but that was a while ago

if you have any better ideas?? let me know!!

Does your university give free therapy. Mine does. You might check into that.
