You're serving as my inspiration today. I have about a billion loads of clean laundry to fold, and I do not want to do it. But I'm inspired by your motivation to get your stuff done. We can do this!

I don't think T and I have ever discussed politics, but I remember having to schedule on a Thursday back in April because roboT went to D.C. to go to that protest on Earth Day.

It takes a special kind of liberal to do that kind of thing.

Pantry shelves rid of old food. Food off bed placed in pantry. Bed 75% cleared off. Now to attack the dresser.

My first T was expressed her political views quite a bit...usually after I would say something. She was quite liberal. Current T stays away from politics though she did let it slip once that she did not support medical marijuana.

I've discussed it often with my therapist and we agree on similar things. However I don't think he keeps up very much because it stresses him out

My Ts are both extremely liberal. I remember I had a session with L the day after the election and she was wearing a black nasty woman tshirt, black boots, fishnets, and a black leather pencil skirt

I was so jealous of that outfit

Lunch was really good
We got Ethiopian food
Boss's friend swears a lot
A lot a lot
But we all had a lot of fun, and then we got gelato
I'm in a good mood now

2 more hours of work, then therapy

Two bags of trash taken out to the trashcan. Almost have bed cleared off...just a couple piles of mail. Need to go through them and separate real from junk.

Just got a call from my financial aid advisor about my question of taking out additional money on my academic loan for a new computer. She emailed me a form to fill out. I just sent it back completed. Now to wait for the funds to be dispersed. My computer is dying. The battery will not charge anymore and I have to have it pluged in all the time, which confines me to my desk for everything computer related.

There is nothing like coming out of the gym to find someone has 1) dumped a pineapple coconut smoothie (specialty of the gym cafe) down the (closed) driver's side window of your car, and then 2) keyed it along the driver's side.

I have a suspect - the person I parked next to, huge pickup truck, poor parking abilities - but they are now gone.

less than 3 hours till I have to leave for CVS..my room will not be done....it is slowly getting there though. Still sorting mail, then will be the top of my dresser or my nightstands. The joys of not throwing things away. I can try to finish after CVS tonight. If I am not too tired. I don't really have to be in bed that early.

Ok, so I got preliminary test results yesterday from the neuropsych testing. And the results were not surprising. Mostly at above average on stuff with a specific and significant deficit in spelling and sound to letter. Not enough to meet criteria for anything recognizable. Which sucks because the purpose of the testing for me was to get a waiver on the minimum GRE scores in Verbal for a grad program in Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics.

Since I don't have any problems with memory, they suggest I just get the list of vocabulary words and start memorizing. The best way for me that I know of right now is through reading stuff preferably fictional stuff that uses these vocabulary words so I can grasp the concept of the word through context. So, for those of you that are in the know - is there anything like that for any level I'd say above probably a 5th grade vocabulary level? The higher the better but I know I have gaps that are at a much lower level and to be honest with the changes in academics, I have no clue as to what is now considered a 5th grade vocabulary level.

Oh and it would be great if these books had an audiobook format because I won't be able to sound out the words if they are not something that is pretty straight forward.

Example from my test...
exaggerate ... my spelling: exgurrate Yep I can recognize it when I read it and I know what it means and everything. Just don't ask me to spell it without help.

I am a procrastinator. I found an color therapy adult coloring book while cleaning and a pack of markers. So I sat and colored half a picture instead of cleaning. Oh well...it relaxed me some. Who'd think coloring could do that.

Elio - some of my students have mentioned an app called Magoush? (No idea how to spell it.) They seemed to like it (or at least I know they all did well on the GREs). One of them was dyslexic and had all the readings for my class recorded, so they might have an audio component too.
Thanks for this!

Thats horrible! Why on earth would anyone do that?

I'm sorry that you have to deal with this

Pretty sure what test you took. Did they by any chance also give you any other assessments? Specifically any that tested visual perception processing? Surprised that you weren't given any further recommendations.

What I'd do is have you do is use a service that provides audio associated with definitions. which has the audio for words, as well as the definition with them. Quizlet, an online flash card service, does have audio associated with its products. I use it all the time in my classroom.

As an aside, I'm going through training for a multi-sensory program designed to help with spelling, and it would have been perfect for you.
Thanks for this!
