Just looked at the map too- can't see my country cause it's covered with red dots

Yeah. It's pretty addictive to watch. Unfortunately for me it's an anxious watching, but before I developed this particular anxiety I used to enjoy it...

You mean you wouldn't bring it with you?

I'd be safe with the dinosaur ocarina.

Wish I was on T's sofa with a dinosaur ocarina. And some lucozade, obviously.

...and Boby. (But, like, a clone of him I guess, 'cos I wouldn't wanna take him from JD)
Thanks for this!

Daisy I don't hate you but I do have a shockingly dull life right now

I don't actually believe that anyone here hates me. Bad joke was bad. Sorry.

Okay, I'm being distracted. Back to work.

You mean you wouldn't bring your magic ocarina with you?

I'd be safe with the dinosaur ocarina.

Nah, he's too delicate to travel. Which is why M loaned me his special crystal and shiny new business card!

I wish I could take the ocarina with me I guess we only have a few days left together

Well my computer is almost dead. I don't feel like staying at the cafe anymore. I don't feel like I accomplished much, but I did get some things done.
Thanks for this!

Trying to gather the courage to ask my grad school advisor (who can be a bit terrifying) for a letter of recommendation for a PhD program. I'm not so much scared she'll say no as that she'll want to meet. Last time I met her to try to ask for job search advice, I ended up breaking down crying because she said some things that hurt my feelings. Note that I did well in the program, and she seemed to like me OK--she's just notorious for being rather intimidating (and making people cry).

I'm mostly afraid she'll be like, "If you were really dedicated enough to do a PhD program, you would have somehow managed to find a job in your field by now. What, you gave up looking for a while, partly due to frustration because you got one interview for like 75 applications? And partly because you wanted to focus on your daughter? Still, not dedicated enough!"

Also, I'm probably completely insane for applying for a PhD program at age 40 (that wouldn't start till next fall)--plus one is at a rather prestigious school (the other is a state school that's pretty good, too), so who knows if I'd even get in. Especially because it requires GREs (master's program didn't) and...I don't seem to recall stuff like, say, algebra based on the GRE test book I have (not worried about the other two parts).

Knowing how hard it was for you to get going, you accomplished a lot by getting out there in the first place. You should be proud of yourself.

So your whole life really does pass before your eyes before the end!

Oiii Thursday was mandatory Lawrence Welk viewing night in my home growing up.

We always had to make fun of the tenor with short arms who sang "How Great Thou Art"

And the Anaconda lady
