Hello. I was wondering if it's appropriate to purchase a small gift to show appreciation for everything that my daughter's counselor has done for her. She was seeing this counselor through my EAP at my previous job, and I haven't worked there in over a year. They've gone above and beyond to be able to keep seeing her, but we've finally come to the end of the line. My daughter loves seeing her counselor and I hate that she won't be able to see her anymore. I've received some recommendations for new counselors from her current counselor, but I wasn't sure if a small gift would be appropriate. Her last appointment is tomorrow.
Thanks for any help anyone can give me. |

It depends on the therapist but it is usually ok if it is not an expensive item. It is better if it has personal meaning like something your daughter could make.

A small gift is usually OK. I'd go with a small treat (chocolates, or something homemade), flowers/potted plant, or something art-like your daughter made herself (or you made together). Or maybe something for her office.

I like the idea of something your daughter made or you made together.
