Yes well, I put a bottle in the freezer so it will be ready to open here shortly. It's not a big bottle, so I plan to have it all to myself this afternoon.

Ok I have a new favorite (affordable) wine. I couldn't resist the name of the winery and the label on the bottle. Here's the picture on the label, does this fit me or what?!?!! It totally could be a Tarot or Oracle card. It's Prophecy Pino Grigio.

We just went out to a local taproom* with D to grab a beer (wanted to get out of the house). She had a couple Christmas cookies that we brought and some water. There were tons of parents with kids there. I wanted to take a picture and text it to MC, saying "SEEEE? We're not the only ones!"

*Place that brews beer on the premises and can serve their own beer but nothing else, including food (though they have regular food trucks that come by).

I think children in bars is a relatively new thing - as is the idea of taking small children everywhere - there used to be more of a clear line between what was appropriate for children and and what was not. Now that parents are letting children be in charge of the family and run the show - the lines are a lot blurrier.

There used to be laws against children in places that served just or mostly alcohol in a lot of places. My friends would not have taken children to bars for the most part (I am probably closer to your parents' age) but I think the blurriness started with my generation and has gotten worse and worse (you kids get off my lawn). My parents would have gone to bars specifically to get away from us. I, of course, leave bars if children arrive or try to only frequent those that have over 18 rules and are not for families with small children. Since I rarely go to a bar, it is not a huge deal to me except in theory.

I think the celestial pitcher is supposed to be pouring out her hair? hair, in dreams can represent self-concept, mental attitude, or character. or maybe it poured out her and the hair is the last bit? like she is 'from the stars'? i dunno.

But i really really like the overall feeling of the picture. In fact, I want it bigger, in a frame, hung on the wall over my desk!

This says it's produced and bottled in Mezzocorona, Italy. I've been to Italy once, but have no idea where that is!

I once saw this shockingly bad movie with Alan Rickman in it about anAmerican vineyard that was going down hill and so they called on his character a British winemakerr totry and fix things.

I was browsing the entire wine section of the grocery store instead of going right to where I usually go lol, they had a special today all the 750 ml bottles were on sale, plus an extra 10% off if you bought 6 bottles, hence h said to buy 6 lol and I stumbled upon this one.

So, I bit the bullet (before I started imbibing, I know couch rules! lol) and sent t a well thought-out email describing what I'd realized about how the whole wishing we could be friends thing was getting in the way sometimes and how I've become weary of it, that it's part of why I need to leave and that I do realize I have avoided talking about it. She just replied, saying she appreciates my ability for self-reflection and honesty. So things feel a little bit better than they did last night. I'd say it might be the wine talking, but I haven't had very much. Yet.

oh and @@ - I am suspending conscribing my t to the virtual hecatombs. At least, for now.

It sounds like you've landed in a good place for now, Art. That's awesome.

I've finally decided to download Tapatalk again, so I'll be slightly more active, if only over Winter Break.

I wonder if the no smoking laws made a difference. Maybe partly they shooed kids out just so they wouldnt buy cigarettes from the vending machines in the olden days?

This reminds me of how our parents used to bowl on a league, and they would take us 4 kids with them when the couldn't find a sitter because this particular bowling alley had like a daycare kind of room where you could leave your kids while you bowl. It was really close to the bowling alley's bar, so me and a couple of the other older kids (I think they still made me go in there when I was like 11 or 12? tres embarrassing) used to sneak out of the room over to the bar to watch the tv. haha. what a rebel.

It's possible...I mean, I'd feel much less comfortable taking D places if everyone was smoking (and I say this as a former--as in years ago--smoker). I also think, with places like taprooms, it's more a place for people to gather and try craft beers rather than to get drunk. I also think there's a huge difference between, say, corner dive bar (not that there's anything wrong with them! just not so much with kids) and bar/restaurant. Like the place we go most Sundays is a brewpub and pizza restaurant. Half of it is bar, half is restaurant. (So really not that different from, say, Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday's, TGI Friday's...) But they're very kid-friendly, providing coloring pages, etc. (Plus, pizza, though, oddly, my D dislikes pizza...)

It's also a thing where we're not bringing D someplace and getting wasted...And we're going at kid-friendly times. We're not taking her there at 10 p.m. on a Sat. night. Like today, it was 3 p.m. The place we go on Sundays is around 4. Other places, no later than 5:30...maybe 6 if we hit traffic getting there.

I used to go with my parents when they bowled, too! And they certainly allowed smoking in there at the time...No daycare area, so I sat with my parents and helped keep score. (Random skills: ability to score bowling! Of course now it's all electronic, I think...)

Another memory just swam up. When I was still living with my ex (the alcoholic) we hung out at this particular corner dive bar a lot (so much that we made our own drinks behind the bar lol) and what wasn't funny, was there was this one woman that always came in there and brought her little girl she was probably 5 or 6 at the time and she'd push 2 chairs together in the back corner and lay across the chairs and sleep while her mother drank. I don't know how the mother got away with that. I also don't know how that sweet little girl got any sleep. I wanted to take her home with me.

I think MC may just be out of touch. H and I frequent places like that all the time, and while we don't have children, we see families with children all the time.

We considered going out tonight, but settled on ordering from Amazon Prime Now instead. My hard sodas will be here momentarily.
