I just tried it! A lot of people here don't like CBT but that's what Woebot uses. Comments? I had to set SMART goals. I never liked CBT very much so not sure it will help me. Interesting though.
Thanks for this!

Thanks moxie for starting this thread. I had never heard of woebot so downloaded it to try and am enjoying it so far. It's like another tool in the kit that at least helps put a smile on my face.
Thanks for this!

Had a followup from Woebot today, and I think maybe it actually helped a bit? Had me reframe a couple anxious thoughts about seeing marriage counselor tomorrow (I mean, it didn't know what my thoughts were about, just asked me to reframe them), and that made me feel a bit better. Because they were fortune telling and mind reading. It also quoted an author that T had recommended to me (David Burns).
Thanks for this!

It's good if you like CBT. Woebot keeps coming back wanting me to more. It's a little annoying and I don't like CBT very much. The little robot is kinda cute though.

David Burns wrote Feeling Good , the CBT book. I think I own 2 copies. It's helpful to an extent, just like DBT was for me. Is your T a follower of CBT?

Yep, that's the book T recommended and that I got. I read through a bunch of it, but haven't tried many of the exercises yet. He uses a bunch of different techniques/modalities, including CBT. Though in our initial phone consultation, I told him I didn't think CBT works for me, and he said he'd make a note of that. Then I mentioned it again on my intake form.

I think it may have just been something about how ex-T did it though that didn't work for me, like her approach. Or maybe just where I was at that point when I started seeing her 6 years ago--like my anxiety and panic were too intense to really work on it in a more rational way like CBT...she stopped trying to do that with me after a bit, and I guess it shifted to just, I don't know, generic talk therapy, maybe sort of psychodynamic, but not really (because that's more MC's thing).

Definitely a sign of impending apocalypse.

Encourages people to be even more addicted to technology.

Could have general addictive potential, due to instant gratification and reward.

Reinforces idea that people can neither understand nor solve their own problems.

Creates the illusion of non-judgemental, objective interaction, when in reality there is a team of life "experts" programming the bot according to their own biases and beliefs and distortions.

Potentially increases feelings of isolation and alienation.

Has data mining potential.
Thanks for this!

Hopefully they get woebot on Android soon, it's on I phone and Facebook...

I was wondering if woebot was mentioned on the forums. Thanks MoxieDoxie

some days I get frustrated with it, but then again I get frustrated with therapy and life in general with my thoughts.
Today woebot reminded me sometimes I just have to weather out there storms.

I shared woebot with my t, she had liked the idea at the time because it helps with CBT .
And I'm to a point that I'm grasping at anything that may help.
There's also tec-tec that's images with words, (could be triggering but it's too help with self harm) but I had to download Amazon app store, or what not, to get that in my Android.
