She has mentioned her age a few times over the years like when she turned 60 , 65 etc. When she mentioned her age I said oh so my mom would be 2 years older than you.

EMDR T when I looked her up before our initial visit I found very little but I did see her age.

I finally just asked. It took me about 4 years to get up the nerve but I just blurted out the question one session and she told me.

My T turned 30 and I turned 20 this summer. I like that she is young but not a totally brand new therapist.

I HATTEEE my birthday and getting older and such (i am about to be 37), and my T is relatively open about herself and her birthday is actually...TODAY! (happy birthday T!), so when I start lamenting about my birthday in January, she brings hers up as well. She is 7 years older than me.

I was a little weirded out at first, thinking that an older T would best be able to help me (in terms of life experiences and being a T longer), but we relate really well for many reasons, and one of them is closer in age.

My therapist is in her mid 40s and I’m in my mid 50s. It’s sort of weird for me at times because of the transference and attachment. Sometimes I struggle with it so I am a bit more guarded. We usually get along great and she has helped me with my depression. We continue to work on issues from my childhood along with body work. She is a good therapist but yeah.. the age difference is a little odd sometimes ( when I really start thinking about it).

Pretty sure my therapist is about 15 years older than I am, judging from his educational history and some references he's made. This age difference suits me really well--if we were closer in age I think I'd resent him, and I definitely appreciate the life experience and work experience he brings to the table.

T1 is six years older than me. I know because he mentioned having a 60th birthday party. T3 is probably 3 or 4 years older than me, judging by her diplomas that are on the wall. At my (our) age, I consider that pretty much the same age. I saw one T who was 20 or so years older than me.

I don't know how I would feel about seeing someone younger. Age has not been a determining factor for me so far. I will look for someone with experience in my diagnosis if I ever look again. If they are younger, I think that would be ok.

She is in her midseventies. Yesterday, I emailed her to ask when her birthday was and she emailed back. I never thought to ask before, but thought I’d like to get a card for her this year.

My former therapist is in her mid sixties, closer in age to me.
