$275 is very pricy. My old t in the north east charges $300 now but not when I was seeing him. My ca t charged about 200 but was less after insurance. 275 out of pocket is robbery. If that is for group, even worse. My t conducts dbt groups and it usually under fifty dollars a person

In my area there are a few T's (i think 3 to be precise) who offer DBT intensive packages. You pay a fixed amount (i think instalments are usually okay) and then you get an individual and a group therapy session per week, plus a group education session plus a phone check in or two and homework. It's pretty intensive but you can still work or go to school at the same time. The idea is that over about 3 months you really build your skills. Anyway, it's a lot cheaper that what that T is offering, prob because a bunch of people get signed up for a 3 month period and there's an economy of scale.
That T doesn't sound very caring or welcoming. Therapy doesn't always feel good but feeling like a T is strict, aloof or indifferent just seems terrible. |
