Is there any association between having more sessions and thinking more about trauma issues (even if you dont talk about it out loud in therapy) but still thinking about it more?

I feel like I've been having more nightmares bc of increasing my sessions.....I don't know what else could be causing it?

I do have trouble more with dissociation when I'm having regular weekly appointments than I am right now when it's sort of like, whenever she can fit me in. I think its from trauma constantly being brought up then I have more trouble with dissociation both in session and in life. But right now that I'm not going to see T every week (it's averaging about every other or so) I'm noticing I'm not as dissociated. My nightmares stay the same though.

i used to go every other week, then I switched to once a week the past year and recently its been 2-3 times a week, and the nightmares are out of control... but they feel like memories only I dont actually remember these things, so I think my mind is just making them up but I dont know how to stop them.

It may be that therapy is moving "too fast" right now and the nightmares are a way that your mind is telling you that you need to slow down not necessarily decrease the amount of time in therapy but just not have as fast of a pace. Or it could be that the topics are just too triggering and your mind is responding to that. Your T might have some ideas on how to negate some of the nightmares.

Have you told your T about your nightmares? Like the content? Might be helpful if your T works in that way.

yes but she just keeps saying to "talk back to it" like its negative self talk, but its not- its more like flashes, images...of bad things.

I would scale the sessions back and go over coping skills and grounding . You're not coping very well and the talking back suggestion isn't helping.
