@@ I think I found a German Netflix show you might like it's called Dark. It's about a missing boy and yesterday and today not being consecutive!

But it has a scene within the first 3 minutes which could be triggering- so might be best kept for when you're feeling better.

Possible trigger:

See Artie. Artie is In A Cranky Mood at work because the noisy team is outdoing themselves right now. Their sup is out. Artie is pissed. Artie may have just sent a strongly worded complaint about them to mgmt. Artie should go home and go back to bed and stop referring to herself in the 3rd person or whatever.

Its just so hostile on her part. Thats what surprises me. That that hostility would manifest in that way.

I can't imagine what excuse if any she might have had for doing it.

How did you find out? If this is an acquaintance of yours, perhaps they guessed? If not, what will you do, if anything? If I recall correctly, you said the woman retired, so filing a complaint with the board would be pointless.

As for being an idiot, I disagree. I understand you have many negative beliefs about therapists. However, I would argue that many of those beliefs are about disagreeing with various proclamations they make about the nature of therapy, which is variable and more intangible than actual laws governing confidentiality. I think it's reasonable to be surprised when a professional violates the law, which it sounds like she did.

When did “flexible attendance” become a college-level disability accommodation?

(Though many students seem to think attendance is flexible anyway, which is why I have things like daily three-minute quizzes.)

SD..your an attorney. Is there any legal recourse? And if so, is that a route you want to take? Maybe you can send her a letter as an attorney (not as a client) just to kind of cool her bluff a bit to make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

That is one area where the ABA helps a little - there is a mandatory attendance number of hours from on high - not just the university which students ignore with regularity. They still skip -but not as much. Why they want to pay all that money not to go to class is beyond me. Not to mention how surprised they can be when they fail a class or flunk out altogether.
It takes a certain mindset to write a prof you have never met "I can't be at the first class - will I miss anything?"

Flowers for this week Carnation and gerberas. I wanted red roses, but they didn't have the shorter stem ones at the florist only the larger ones. Flowers are cheaper than therapy...

No I am not going to sue or report - what damages would there be? Plus she is retired. Plus I see as me failing to dodge a trap. I knew she set them. More humiliated than anything else. It is not a huge deal.
It just surprised me. As cynical as I am about those people, I just did not see this as a probability. Possibility certainly - I just never thought of it as all that probable.

My university does not have attendance for 95% of the lectures. I am very thankful for that, I never attended lectures and passed with straight As mostly. I don't see the point in attendance requirements, it's higher education. Adults should be able to decide how they learn for themselves, and if they don't study, they will drop out at the exams. Same with homework requirements.

Oh don't sign that form! You need to spell it out, like they get one additional absence above what the standard amount is. That's what I always do anyway. Flexible is way too open ended.

I love gerberas, Cake...good choice.

I have new glasses - it's like having new eyes. I suppose that's the point.

So it's sort of funny, sort of not. H went to the hospital last night and they told him he wasn't a priority since he was just there that morning. They only ran blood tests and then sent him home. He's pissed. He no longer wants to go to that hospital. I told him he's burning bridges even with the hospital now. He said he's going to make a bunch of doctors appointments instead of going to the hospital.

C and I have been accommodated by a professor after the fact. For example, if there were 9 absences allowed before the grade was to be affected, the professor chose to not penalize us for missing an extra couple classes. However, I agree that it seems a bit ridiculous to forecast the absences, and to do so in such a vague way. The professor was willing to work with us because we demonstrated that we are not a lazy student by doing well on assignments and always participating in class, unlike many of our classmates. I have never heard of such an accommodation being given ahead of time, and I would never want to start off with a professor by asking for such a thing. In fact, C and I were always prepared to accept the percentage off of our grade due to the absences, but the professors actually approached us wanting to know if something was wrong. A "flexible attendance" policy that does not allow for professor discretion seems like it would be prone to abuse.

You mean make the doctor appointments in advance just in case? He's really a piece of work. Will going to the doctor be cheaper?

Doctor appointments for each of his issues: cardiologist, neurologist, pulmonary doctor, eye doctor, and pcp.

Right now, hospital is free because sadly we met the deductible. Pcp cost $25, specialist cost $55, and hospital costs $325.
