Couch 175: You've Got Mail....

Ebony definately remembered what happened to her, I'm completely certain of it. Like say for example she had a severe aversion to the cops and they had done nothing to her since going into rescue, if she saw a cop and felt she couldn't escape from them (even if they was on the television or something) she'd get to the other side of the room, tail would puff up, ears would go back and she would quietly growl at them until she couldn't see them any more.

She also associated going outside alone with bad things happening, she refused point blank to go outside without having someone with her. She'd literally stand in the doorway refusing to go outside unless me, my mum, Tigger or Ebony's boyfriend Tom went outside. I could leave the door open and she wouldn't go outside even with loads of chances unless one of us went outside with her.

Another thing she used to do is she'd raid rubbish out of the bin then guard it like she was imitating Gollum from lord of the rings ("Myyyyyyyyyyyy Preciousssssssssss" kinda thing) and she wouldn't let anyone take it off her until she was sure there was no food in the rubbish. I had to watch her with that because she had a sensitive tummy that would easily get upset.

Before Tom (her boyfriend) died, she used to hide behind him for protection from the scaries, like when a wasp got into the house, she saw it and hid behind Tom and Tom stood there growling at it until I hit it with the fly swat then made sure it was dead by drowning it. I hate wasps, I'm scared of them

I never thought it was a great book, but I did find it very funny even though I wanted to whack Holden most of the time. Funny but insufferable.

I used to hate cleaning when 2ex was around and would “supervuse” but not actually help. Now it’s like self-care.

I clean for the dog sitter when I go out of town, to procrastinate from grading, and before my twice yearly dinner parties.
That is pretty much it except for the every couple of day pet hair sweeping.

I think If I lived with just pets, I would not clean as much as I do.

I guess after opinions here, I decided to give H an out and said “Well , we would not have been able to go down to the shore for the day anyway for our anniversary because nobody but us knows how to give the dog her insulin shot. He said exactly.
So, I put this one to rest.

I think clutter can provide security and safety. I like the idea of booby traps in corridors and doorways to ensnare intruders. I think I would like to retreat but maybe to a forest.

*leaves some oreos lying around on the table beside the couch*

Perhaps you could still do something special to celebrate your anniversary on the weekend. But tell H that you want him to organise it, but you could drop hints.

It's not one of my favourite books either-but it did make me call everyone a phony for a while.

I wasn't sorry for telling you the truth, I was sorry you were being given a crappy present that's hard to get out of.

I did not mind Catcher in the Rye, nor did C. I liked it much better than most of the other books I had to read for school.

I googled the brothers on youtube. I just find it sad seeing everything they had collected and how they passed away.

I have loved Wuthering Heights since the first time I read it in high school. I still remember the day we got it in class!! I think it was my 2nd period class and I read it the rest of the day through all of my other classes I could not put it down and then read late into the night. I devoured it so fast. And have read it many times since! For one birthday about 20 years ago or something my mom bought me a really old copy she'd found in an antique store. It was a rare thing, that she actually 'knew' my favorite book of all time and bought it for me! That's the copy I read now. I love love love the smell of old books.

And my favorite movie version is the 1939 (I think?) with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon. *swoon*!

we are home! i started the laundry and then ate a little lunch. CODA meeting in 2 hours.

Despite my stress on the way OUT of town, I had a really really wonderful weekend and the drive home was much less stressful. I thanked h for keeping his hands on the wheel the whole drive home.

I really liked it too. I liked Heathcliff, he was the perfect villain to hate but you could see his pain.

I wanted everyone in Wuthering Heights to just die. I cannot abide any of the Bronte books.
I do like Jane Austin - I find her books witty. And Trollope too.
The Bronte Sisters would not know witty if it rose up and bit them.
