Loved that documentary. And I'm with you; I love General Tso's and know it's not authentic Chinese. It is, however, quintessential American Chinese.

Yep. I ask for donations from parents if I know they have the means, and shell out several hundred dollars each year on supplies. That's in addition to the fact that I work for a district that really does value education and provides a ton to us. I never have to buy copy paper like some of my friends in neighboring districts.

Yeah, we had a pencil sharpener screwed into the wall near the classroom door when I was in grade school. Every classroom had one. Actually every classroom had one in jr high and high school, too, now that I think about it. It was a great way to stall during a test "Oops my pencil lead broke I have to go sharpen it!" haha

Do they still use chalkboards/chalk/erasers? Or is it all digitalized somehow now?? I wonder.

Most elementary classrooms have communal pencils. If a pencil is broken, then get a sharp one. Put the broken or dull pencils in a safe place until the teacher can sharpen them. Good electric pencil sharpeners are expensive and not to be trusted in the hands of tiny children.

Our school is all white boards. Most schools have either white boards or smart boards, though smart boards are falling out of favor. Instead schools are going 1:1.

I'm enjoying talking about school. I guess I can't allow myself time off. 🤷

Yeah, the School Supply lists also have requests from the teachers for things like dry-erase markers, hand sanitizer, etc., so I usually add a few of those things, too.

Does anybody react very strongly and in a negative way for to people who give you praise? I mean, I know that there are people who can't take a compliment and stuff. But it seems, when anybody praises me or tells me I am doing well my mind needs to prove them that I am bad.

When cats fight how long should you let it go on for? My D cat is a bit of a bully but over time my cats are fighting back. Nobody seems to get hurt just a lot yowling and fur flying.

It's not that I have to prove them wrong, healed, but rather I look at them as foolish because they obviously can't see me for what I really am. But I definitely don't react well to compliments.

In fun news, when my husband ordered Chinese, he also got some wontons. Apparently they used some kind of soy in the meat mix. I took some Benadryl because this doesn't seem to be a really bad reaction, but H is on standby to take me to the ER if necessary.

Boy, today has been fun.

I guess the powers that be would consider the old fashioned crank ones too dangerous nowadays.... ?

I used to have a hard time taking compliments too, but it's something I'm working on.

It's something I'm working on, too. Whenever Lulabelle compliments me about something I used to always dispute it and she'd say "stop that" and one time I said "Well, I don't know what I'm supposed to say!!" And she said "How about 'thank you'?" I was like.... um, oh. So now I try to remember to just say "Thank you." I guess I always use to think saying "thank you" meant I agreed with the person and sounded like I was bragging on myself. But now I guess I'm learning that's not what it means at all?

A couple sessions ago Info insisted I must be a good teacher since my lecture and online and midsize discussion classes are usually oversubscribed. I pointed out other possible explanations.

So yeah, I feel the need to argue with compliments on a logical basis.

h got home and sure enough my onions and bell peppers were still in the trunk of the car haha! so i got my lentils on. Then realized when i washed my hands after turning on the instant pot that my rings were missing. so I assumed they fell off when I dumped the cut-up onions into the rest of the ingredients... so I turned off the IP and got out a big bowl and filtered through lentils/tomatoes/onions etc and of course found them both eventually in the 'soup'. they keep falling off since I lost weight... one time recently they fell off at t's house as I was getting in my car after my session, luckily they landed inside my car and not on the gravel parking area or i might never have found them. I gotta get them resized....

so now the lentils are cooking again! haha
eta: this is my wedding rings. t sorta joked maybe it was a sign that they fell off right after we were talking about my marriage issues....

Nah, soybean oil doesn't cause reactions. There isn't enough actual unprocessed soy in it for me to react. For me to react like this, it needs to be a decent amount, so they likely fortified the meat mixture in the wontons with soy flour or tofu. Good news is that the Benadryl seems to be working.

Yeah, my issues go deeper than arguing about it. Which I have done with my t before. I tend to act out in more destructive ways. Or maybe I really am a bad person and just make selfish, bad decisions because of that. Idk anymore.

Ah, I see. Otherwise, I was thinking Chinese food would probably be risky. Glad the Benadryl is working!
