There was a situation this past week that made me feel like my Pdoc doesn’t care about me. I see him next Tuesday and I want to bring up the subject of feeling like he doesn’t care about me. However, I don’t know how to open that discussion without feeling uncomfortable. Any suggestions?

I just mentioned it in an email so it’s out there. I’ve been struggling so much lately and I feel like a burden for wanting to reach out for help.

The conversation about it might be a bit uncomfortable, but sometimes that's necessary in therapy. It's not nice, but a lot of times you will feel better afterwards. I think you have this issue a lot, that you feel people don't care, at least if I remember correctly. So in my opinion it's very good and brave of you to bring it up with your Pdoc! I hope the conversation next week goes well for you.
Thanks for this!

Are you seeing him for meds, or therapy, or both?

If you sent an email, would it work to start the session by saying, "Can we start with what I wrote in my email? And I need to have you guide me through the conversation, because it feels really hard for me. Can you tell me what your reaction to my email was?"

I don't know how the conversation wouldn't be uncomfortable but I do think it would be worth having. Good luck.

Hugs hope he is open to discussing this with you. It's a uncomfortable topic to discuss in therapy but it does feel good to get it out afterward

Thanks for all of the encouraging responses everyone. I have an update. So I went to my appointment yesterday and he listened to what I thought would help me now. So he agreed to let me do a session every 2 weeks and just talk to him about what’s going on in my life instead of having to look for a therapist and start over again.

He seems like he understands what I’m saying more than my therapists.

We got so deep in discussion, that we ran out of time and he said “oops, I forgot to check your meds”. It was kind of funny.

I really like my pdoc. He’s awesome.
