Hi, all.

Session in two hours - is anyone around to pocket ride?

I got a new puffer coat, this one is long almost to my ankles. It wasnt that cold today, but i was noticeably more comfortable on the bus. There is usually a draft on the bus, but i was all cuddly and warm. But not TOO hot when i stopped in the drugstore.

Have fun dating your young good looking artists while I'm sat here alone eating a chocolate croissant.

OOooo I'm glad you were toasty. I've never had a coat that long. Please stay away from young Dalmatian puppies though.

His face was lit up. I watched the tail end of my middle son's dress rehearsal for his upcoming show and was struck by his stage presence, his bearing and his smile and focus, and the way he came off stage glowing. And my youngest spent the afternoon with me, doing thoughtful things for other people: He made his brother's birthday cake and picked out birthday presents for his brother and his friend, really taking the time to think about what they like, and he was funny and helpful and considerate. They're such remarkable people, and seeing them really come into their own selves, comfortable in their skin, is so delightful.

I certainly can't take credit for them becoming who they are meant to be, but I am suddenly grateful that I have worked pretty darn hard to create and regain the kind of stability in their lives that they have that opportunity. They give me faith in the future.

(Now I am going to post before I get all awkward about what a sap I am and erase the whole thing.)

Awww it was lovely to read about your kids becoming themselves. They are who they are because of you providing that safe space for them.

I have a 4 hour pharmacology class that starts in 35 mins. Can you tell I don't like pharma!?

I'm actually proud myself this morning and almost resemble an semi adult.

-I paid my rent
-I hand washed three towels
-I finished up cleaning from yesterday, but just need to mop up and I'm done.
-I went shopping. I bought two huge 275g chocolate bars which I felt a bit guilt about, but they were on sale and I have exams coming up- the best excuse ever so i'm going to try to make them last until december.
-I have the building people coming over tomorrow to do a place check- which I hate but they do it twice a year. Hopefully they'll come in when I'm out for surgery.

I finally gave up smoking a couple of decades ago. I was leaning way out of the window trying to get in a last drag before "quitting" yet again - I hit my head so hard on the window that I knocked myself out and woke up in the ER, getting stitches from a 4th year med student. Never, ever get stitches from an MS-IV. It was enough to make me quit for good.

Wow, those are quite the smoking stories! The thought of someone smoking while doing rounds at the hospital just seems so odd now, but I imagine it was just the norm then, like smoking on airplanes, in offices, etc. And I'm old enough to remember the printers with reams of perforated paper, where you had to tear the edges off

Last night in truly random dreams, I was working in a store that had just remodeled. Then, all of a sudden, someone crashed their car into the store and drove up one side of it as we all rushed to the other side to safety. Then the driver of the car got out, stood on top of a platform (or something) in the store and sang a verse of "I've Had the Time of My Life" (or whatever it's called) from Dirty Dancing, then ran off. (No, I had not just seen that movie.)

That sounds like it’s right up there with my random strange dreams.

Today I’ll be going to my moms for thanksgiving and then stopping by my sister in laws house. I refuse to make myself look presentable today and will be dressed down in my most comfy sweat pants and a warm fleece shirt. It’s very cold today in my parts. My mom usually makes stuffed shells and a turkey but I normally pass on the turkey.

Now, on top of it all I am the victim of an oddly formed cult group of psychopaths. They are not on an island but toy with people in plain sight. As if I need this.

You think you’re building a new life/solving problems, but you’re worried someone/thing will ruin it and enjoy doing so?

I am having 10 people over today. The cooking is fine, but I hate the cleaning.

Oh, that's a good interpretation. And sort of fits with something I was talking about in session yesterday, where if things seem to be going well, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, for something to go wrong.

Leave the mess and call a housekeeper. For a small fee you can sit with your feet up while someone else cleans your home.

I'm going to a Thanksgiving potluck and bringing a pecan pie from the store, because I don't cook.

Since they are coming in 4 hours - it is a bit too late for that. I had a housekeeper for awhile but when they quit coming to the city, I never replaced them. And I never really liked someone else messing about in my house.

I agree with you about having to go from not happy to happy is an impossible goal. And thus far, this book isn't anything like the "positive" book like I had to read for work, which was just horrendous. It's good to know that kids still like "cool" books for presents.
