We’re doing family Thanksgiving tomorrow, so today I will be cooking pies and cleaning the house. It’s potluck, so the kids’ dad is cooking the turkey, and I am making pumpkin pies, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes. We’re going to have around 27-30 people.

But he is clearly having mental health issues. Have you spoken with his psychiatrist about a more intensive treatment/intervention for his problems? He's not doing this intending to waste anyone's time. It seems like he's on the edge and really needs more intensive treatment than what he is receiving. Time to be the squeaky wheel? I've had to do that to help me husband finally receive the intervention and care he really needed.

Could his psychiatrist maybe talk to someone at the ER, like to suggest it may be psychological (or a psychiatrist/social worker at hospital)? Or, say, if he shows up at the ER, could they contact his psychiatrist before testing/admitting him?
Thanks for this!

I agree. The psychiatrist needs to take a more active role in this than just prescribing a low level medication that he apparently isn't taking. His file needs to be marked to call that psychiatrist each and every time he comes in. The psychiatrist will become much more aware of the issues and perhaps become more active in his treatment.
Thanks for this!

I did not imply that the man was not suffering in some way. I said from reading Scarlets previous postings that it doesn’t seem like he is physically ill, in which case then he is taking time away from medical professionals at the ER for physical symptoms that keep turning up to be nothing after testing. I do hope he gets good mental health intervention so that he could hopefully find some relief.

I don't think the psychiatrist will get any more involved. He doesn't seem to be available outside of the appointment. He keeps telling my H to wait till the next appointment. I personally think the psychiatrist is a quack. When H and I were both seeing him, he made us watch a video on how to laugh...

My H is in pain. His stomach hurts him real bad. And his heart rate does go up and he gets light-headed. But it is most likely due to anxiety. He checks his heart rate every 2-5 minutes (no joke). Then when it's slightly elevated, he freaks out. The other day he had low blood sugar which was the culprit for him not feeling well. He's so mad because he feels like no one is helping him. But all the scans and tests come back normal every time. He did talk to a psch doctor at the hospital and they suggested Buspar. I think his pcp is going to prescribe it to him on Monday. Let's hope he takes it.

Thanks to all those who pocket-rode. Now have a faint feeling of wanting to sleep for a week.

There's only 2 close by that accept our insurance. The other one has a long waiting list.

Maybe get on it (if you’re not already) and see if he can get on cancellation list?

I am just completely DONE with being around people. Extremely introverted people don't do well in crowds. But if I want to see my sister on holidays, I have to go to her house where she hosts too many people to count from her husband's family. She and I are it as far as our side is concerned.

My couch swallowed me, and I will probably repeat last night, fall asleep at 8:30 and wake up stiff and sore around midnight, then be up into the wee hours. Oh, well, I'm not going anywhere tomorrow, might as well stay up watching the weird side of YouTube.

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving/Thursday!

My dogs are completely sacked out and are snoring - having company over is one of the most exciting things for them and it wears them out.

I can't decide if I want to see my T on Monday or wait till the next week. Of course, I want to see my T, but I'm not sure she can help. That and I feel like pushing her away. I just know I'm going to lose her in a few months. We won't be able to afford her. If I leave her, then she won't be responsible for anything I do.

Feeling unusually upbeat today, following news of an article being published.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

Everyone's a critic! The bacon is too crisp, she wants it floppy. The grits are too thin, she likes them gloppy. The eggs were just right, though. She told me a couple nights ago I was getting good at the cooking thing. Guess my breakfast skills still have room for improvement!
