Hey couch, I did a little retail therapy today, bought bathroom rugs, a shower curtain and soap dispenser for the spare bathroom (cuz my son took the rugs, shower curtain etc that had been in there). It's more to my taste now:

Couch 184: Welcome to Zanzibar!
Thanks for this!

Yikes, this guy is getting let go from work today. I don't know him, he's in a totally other department that I don't interact with. But it just seems like it sucks because it's so close to Christmas. I feel bad for him, even though I don't know what the situation is. Just the timing. Since I back up HR, I was aware of it earlier today, but as I think of it, I'm just like dang that sucks. Kit.

I sjould go get more supplies before the rain comes and we get cut off. The thing i might need most is kitty litter but i think i have enough for a couple of days. I dont feel like facing the crowds and theres one supermarket in town who has massive storerooms and their own generators so it all cool then

Hopefully he will get unemployment but that does suck during the holiday season. I mean it sucks anytimes but it sucks more during the holidays.

Because of course home is home. We HAVE to take things from our parents' home - they feel like the only right things.

He should get unemployment, if he applies. Our company doesn't fight it ever. We are an "at will" employer and he was still within his probation period but idk, it just stinks. I just like put myself in his shoes and if I got let go a week before Christmas I'd be super depressed.

Yes Art, that’s true what Una said. When I first moved out of my parents home I took half the stuff in the house! But eventually replaced it with my own.

My 88-year-old father is moving into assisted living in a few weeks. We are getting ready to move him out of his house. Mom and Dad have a home filled with family heirlooms and nostalgia. It’s daunting for him to go through everything, but he is so happy that all of us understand the value (symbolically as well as monetarily) of the antiques and artwork they had acquired in their 65 years of marriage. Dad told me the other day, “Do you realize there are over 100 pieces of art on these walls?” Yes, Dad, we do.

I know I should be grateful for having family, but holidays suck when your family is fractured: sister's ex = banned, my H = banned, my mom and dad don't want to be in the same room, everyone hates my step dad. I don't see or speak to my Aunts, Uncle, or cousins. I have no grandparents anymore. I have to celebrate 3 different Christmases!

Though I love decorating!

I have a ton of stuff from my parents' home and from my grandmother. I am still using my grandmother's stainless steel flatware.

My youngest is sick again, so I'm exhausted from staying awake taking care of her. Ordered my oldest his birthday cake for Sunday...he picked Harry Potter. His bday was on Monday but DH is off this Sunday so we're going to take him to an indoor obstacle fun center and do cake and presents.

I want to share holiday pictures of my 2 youngest...is that allowed? I share a million pictures on Facebook but never here.

You really make me laugh out aloud looking at my screen. Thank you una, I don't say it a lot but thank you for being crazy and for all your support.

I only took the stuff my mum gave me. When I got here I literally just had one plate. One cup.One knife. One spoon- when my brother left to start school I made sure we went ikea and got him multipack cutlery.

It was like in beauty and the beast. It hurt me more to leave that knife than to leave my parents. We had two knives, a long one and a short one, when i was growing up. When i was staying with my mom in my late 50's, i found the long one tucked away in a cupboard. It was like finding a long lost friend. Honestly i wanted to talk to it. My brother had long ago taken the short one. I never forgave him for that, more than for anything about how he left home.

You can post whatever your comfortable with, which differs person to person . On instagram I follow two different people with more than 50k followers each . One posts almost daily of her kids, that even I can spot the difference between her twins, the other another will only show the backs of her kids and never their faces . In my cannula picture I crossed out the face of the boy I was with because it was me posting not him.

The cake sounds nice- I luuurve harry potter and have been on book four since november!

We get attached to everything. I'm a very woo person, but I believe that you can leave energy in objects, so that they become yours. It's not just a cup anymore it's your cup.

In the name of research I decided to take one for the team, and spent £5 on my block of cambozola cheese. And I was in the mustard aisle too. I will report back later.

Please pray for me as they also had snicker bars on sale.
