I'm sorry Jersey. I had to put my cat down last year. It was the humane thing to do. I ended her suffering.

i guess i meant there is no right or wrong to the poet.... eta of course one can 'do' forms or grammar incorrectly but then again.... to the poet, sometimes it works.... i dunno what i meant.

then again i am little miss sensitive

Well, overall i liked it - the correction and as it was - because it showed me something about the subjunctive as well as the original thought. Neither of which would have come to awareness if i had feared to engage.

I once wrote a poem and spent a good amount of time debating whether I meant further or farther. Still not sure.

I wish I was dead/I wish I were dead.

I'm pretty sure I made my point regardless of grammar.

I mean, have you ever listened to song lyrics? There's some seriously ungrammatical stuff going on there. Everyone put your red pens down for couch poetry.

There is a different forum here for poetry I think - that may (or may not) be of interest.
Ungrammatical can work if done intentionally for a point but it doesn't always come through whether it was by intent or by mistake

Definitely unintentional. All those rules about subjunctive and whatnot that una speaks of went out the window after high school. And I'm definitely not a poet. Despite the Debbie Downer subject of my haiku, I was just attempting to participate on the couch. I don't care if anyone wants to correct my grammar. I just hadn't put any thought into it at all.

My comment wasnt about correcting the grammar. I enjoy discussing grammar. SUI isnt exactly an approved topic for discussion. So i did the best with what i had. Excuse the eff out of me.

I still find Eats, Shoots & Leaves by Lynne Truss to be one of my favorite books on punctuation.

“The rule is: the word 'it's' (with apostrophe) stands for 'it is' or 'it has'. If the word does not stand for 'it is' or 'it has' then what you require is 'its'. This is extremely easy to grasp. Getting your itses mixed up is the greatest solecism in the world of punctuation. No matter that you have a PhD and have read all of Henry James twice. If you still persist in writing, 'Good food at it's best', you deserve to be struck by lightning, hacked up on the spot and buried in an unmarked grave.”
― Lynne Truss, Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation

I love this woman.

I am trying “In Treatment” again and Blair Underwood just paid the therapist by counting out change on the coffee table.

If only Info had a coffee table...

I liked it when he installed his espresso maker in the therapist's office. I hated Paul with a passion.
