So she said today she thinks DID is valid but I may have bipolar as well and for sure Ocd and PTSD. She suggested I go back to my old Psychologist for testing after I mentioned that. She said it was a good idea. Then she mentioned maybe I could see her for the 3 months shes out starting in May. She was professional and just said she doesnt have a crystal ball. Problem is my old Psychologist doesnt accept my insurance now😔

Sounds like you got a little clarity and some possibilities. I'd look for a psychologist who does take your insurance if you are interested in more testing. Or, May is only 3-4 months away, maybe pay out-of-pocket a couple times to work with someone to make a plan for the 3 months/summer with her?

Based on my past experience I would look for someone who specializes in DID. These are usually trauma specialists. You don't have to see a psychologist for a diagnosis. Master's level therapists can diagnose you if they as well. My LPCC trauma T diagnosed me. Unfortunately I know I have DID but my pdoc has me diagnosed as MDD Severe with psychotic syptoms because she does not believe in DID.
Or, if you really want to not be diagnosed with DID pick someone like my pdoc who doesn't believe in it. I know it is a hard diagnosis to think about and obviously I don't know if you have it or not. I do know that getting a proper diagnosis and treatment from a qualified T can make a huge difference in the quality of your future. |

I guess I don't get how your previous therapist won't accept your insurance. Is this not illegal? (!!!!) I am glad though that your current therapist wants to take some action instead of just talk. How nice it would be to finally have a name to your troubles as, in my thoughts, this would be some validation. This is encouraging.

To reply to your first part, as I see you're in Canada--in the US, many therapists don't take insurance--you just pay them a direct fee, then can sometimes get reimbursed for part of it by insurance (that's how my T, ex-T, and ex-MC operated). They're considered "out of network." It keeps them from having to deal with insurance paperwork and restrictions that can be placed on them by insurance companies (like treatment limits). However, it can also make it considerably more expensive for clients, particularly if they don't have out-of-network benefits in their insurance (my insurance does, reimbursing 60%). |

I dont work. I am on disability. So paying out of pocket is not an option. I talked to my old psychologist and she said she does accept Mediare but when I called them said she wasnt on my plan. So I have to do some research. I had Cigna when I saw her before. She also said she would see me when my therapist goes out of town( if my insurance is approved) but she would not be retesting me and stick with my original DDnos diagnosis because I take to much medication to be able to access my parts. So idk how I feel.

You could also check into therapists who offer a sliding scale for fees. |

I would think Medicare would have a list of psychologists or therapists that you could see? Can you call them or check on the website? HUGS Kit
