That’s my brain for ya.

From watching american shows ,DOD= department of defense?

In the UK I had to do an enhanced check to work with primary kids, in my first universities program. There might be lot of stuff behind the scenes but I think the FBI would show up only if you've been involved in serious stuff.

I understand the paranoia. I was afraid when I got a federal job like 10 years ago that my past DWI would disqualify me, but it didn't. I would think the only reason they'd do a credit check is if you'd somehow be working with money, like if you were working for, say, a bank and had really bad credit, they could consider you a risk for embezzlement or something. Otherwise, I wouldn't think it should affect the type of job you're looking for.
Also, my H was interviewed for a couple friends who were seeking security clearances. We've heard it's more about being honest. Like if the candidate said they'd never smoked pot, then H had said they smoked pot together a bunch, might be an issue. But if candidate disclosed initially, wasn't a big deal. That's a higher level than a background check--my guess in your case is that your potential employer is just looking for things that could affect your ability to take care of his kid.

Good session today, though a bit intense at times. T used an extended Lego metaphor to talk about attachment that really resonated with me. Like a base for building Lego structures. How those with secure attachment have more of the little bumps to build on. And early attachments/other attachments in life for them build a strong foundation. So then future buildings are more secure. Whereas for people like me, with anxious/insecure attachment, we don't have that same strong foundation. Might be fewer bumps to build on. Buildings are more unsteady and teetering. And he said that in the case of ex-MC for me, it was like the existing buildings were a bunch of shacks. And ex-MC was building a big church, so lots riding on it. He elaborated on it a bit more, too. But it seemed to make a lot of sense. (He said before he shared it that he works with a lot of kids/teens, hence the Lego comparison, but it fit.)

If I send a package with air holes to “stopdog, General Delivery, USA,” will you accept it?

I cleaned the inside of the screen but the outside is tough as the screen appears to be stuck and I’m on the fifth floor.

I guess the window opens since it has a screen. Spray bottle set to whatever the opposite of fine mist is?

Fun fact (partly because one of my former guinea pigs showed up in my dream last night): guinea pigs can't vomit. Also, like humans, they can't produce their own vitamin C (which most animals can do). Which is part of why they were used in experiments a lot at one point (now it's mostly mice--I edit science journal articles and also wrote an article for a newspaper on animal testing regulations eons ago).

I love the lego talk. It makes so much sense. You can't build a house and expect it to stand when the foundations are shaky.

Personally, I would show up to see R, but I've never cancelled before even when I was so anxious about showing up and being seen or when I'm feeling distant from him. But he's never sat in silence when I wanted him to talk either. I hope if you show up you get some resolution and comfort from it.
Thank you NP.

I just don't feel like I can go going back right now.

In the UK we have one charity that lets you stay with them free of charge when you're feeling suicidal for a few days. Do you have anything similar in the US? Can you ask a friend/family if you can stay over?

I like your hair @Lemoncake. I dyed the underneath part of mine purple last week but it's barely noticeable.

My home health nurse is one her way over here to do wound care on the spot that got infected last month. I told T that I wanted to avoid her call today about coming over, but he said he doesn't think that will look good to anyone

Hugs and head-nods all around. It's just too hot to function. I'm splayed out like a starfish in front of the air conditioner, and not inclined to change any time soon. Hopefully you all have more moderate weather. Have a good night!

Thanks Lemoncake, I stay with my parents most of the time, but that's not a guarantee because the time that I attempted, I was at my parents house, and they were home. There is a clinic but it's not free, but you can stay for 23 hours. I'm not a huge fan of the place though (they usually do my psych evals at the hospital and the clinicians seem like giant jerks). I just have to get through this and trust all will be well. HUGS Kit

Something more immediately satisfying but with less substance and value?
