I bought some watercolor paint this week because I keep seeing these youtube videos of watercolor galaxy paintings and they seemed doable for someone who can't draw. I apparently do not possess enough skill to artistically distribute some blobs of paint around in anything remotely resembling a galaxy. Maybe it requires more practice, but so far it's been really disheartening. I really needed an easy win this week.

Do the videos explain how watercolours work because for me I have to understand how something works before I do it. Watercolours are hard. Did you have the right kind of paper because that is key thing in watercolours
Thanks for this!

Yeah, I bought watercolor paper and two watercolor brushes and the paints. I watched a basic video that explained wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry after I bought everything. The ones I'm trying to emulate don't really explain exactly what they're doing though. It's either more complicated than it looks or I just have zero talent for it.

That's the problem I had I was trying to follow videos that don't explain they just painted and only gave minimal explanation. I can look up some that I have found helpful if you like

I really like the Art Sherpa but it took me a while to get used to her style but she explains things well she has quite few watercolour vids another one lachri fine arts
ETA Lachri fine arts seems to have taken down a lot of her watercolour videos

Nadine Dudek paints mainly birds but is very helpful
Thanks for this!

I find to paint you have to let go of expectations of the end product and just go with the process.

And now I am irritable and yelled at my cat because he was saying thank you for letting him inside by getting in my face and trying to lick me.

Here is the progress so far on my current afghan, for son's gf. She picked out the colors, I am liking it so far and crocheting is being therapeutic for me while L has been out of town this week:

My oldest son would love that, Artie! His favorite colors are green, grey and black.

I'm worried he won't get it and then I'll just feel even more disconnected. I think he goes away in a month again, too. I admit I did send a one-sentence email saying how this stuff is still bothering me and I'll want to talk about it more Monday. Just like a heads up.

I also wrote to his backup T, R, but I have no idea if she reads/replies on weekends (she'd said after session was OK to contact her if I needed).

And now to go have dinner with H in blazing heat (well, we're eating inside, but it's horrible outside).

One thing is that pain at the end of the day will always just be pain. Maybe you can show him posts from here?
