BCM—I love you just for not knowing what “Hamilton” is. Don’t Google. Remain innocent, pure, and unspoiled.

It’s overhyped is what it is.

This Hamilton is coming to Australia in 2021 I wonder how popular it will be seeing we are largely ignorant of the founding fathers or does have universal themes I quickly read the wiki.

Without seeing the comic, it's going to be hard to analyze the joke. But potato salad is common at cookouts and people cookout on July 4th.

I get the sane problem on my iPad after a picture gets posted. It throws everything out of whack.

Are you allowed to live in low income housing if your income is solely from your parents, and they aren't low income? I get about $14k from them per year to live on. I can't tolerate my current living situation much longer because my roommate is horrible. One bedroom and studio apartments are more than I can afford, but 2/2 of my roommates have been bad, and the current one has turned me off finding a new roommate. You just can't tell what kind of **** someone might pull once you're stuck with them.

Anyway, the cheapest units in this area are $800, which I can't afford. But there are rent controlled units for $600.

I just can't take my current living situation, it is making me too anxious and depressed constantly.

Are they giving you 14K because that is the limit on gifts without having to report it to the IRS? In which case, it doesn’t count as income for you. (My mother does something similar to avoid estate taxes.)
Thanks for this!

I doubt it, but maybe. And they are divorced, so it's half from each of them, so I would think they could give me double what they are if that were the reasoning seeing as it's pretty brutal living on 14k/year.

One of the aims of therapy is for you to admit to yourself that it does affect you. Which you just did. Well done!

That's not income, it's a gift.

Right, but I have no evidence of income except what they give me since I don't have a job. So I'm wondering how my income would be verified, and if it's a cosigner situation, my dad is far from poor.

If I'm a dependent then I assume I don't get access to certain things. I don't know that I'll make 4k this year dog sitting, in which case the mother will claim me as a dependent. If I'm a dependent, surely the income that would be judged would be the parents' incomes.

How can anyone prove they have no income? By definition, there can't be any documentation for that.

Huh? I'm talking about evidence of income because you always have to provide that before they'll let you rent a place. Since I have no evidence of income, my dad has had to provide evidence of his as a cosigner in the past.

Even if I had evidence of "no income," that wouldn't really be helpful. It's the issue of not having any evidence of income that I can present as proof of eligibility for low income housing. I don't think you qualify if you have no income. You'd probably have to apply for section 8 and provide that instead. I'm not trying to get section 8, and I probably don't qualify anyway. I have no interest in using tax dollars I don't need. I could afford $600/month.

I don't think they would like it if I moved into low income housing. When I tried to sell my plasma, they acted like I had conceived a child for the purpose of selling it illegally. Especially my dad.

Which reminds me, I've been meaning to start building the basis for a nice little prank on my dad where he'll think I've turned to being a surrogate after they didn't want my plasma.

Susannah—student loans? There’s at least one kind that doesn’t have to be used for tuition (I had a boyfriend in grad school who took them out despite being on full fellowship so he could buy up properties and become a landlord). Though if your mother claims you as a dependent that might not work.

I need to figure something out before my lease is up at the beginning of September. And really, I need to figure it out much sooner so that I can tell my horrible roommate I won't be renewing so she can figure out what she's going to do.

I think I'm going to try to get one I found for $700. Maybe my dad will take pity on me and throw me an extra few dollars.
