I inherited some jewelry pieces. There is a diamond ring with a (supposed) platinum band, a diamond necklace, some Masonic pieces ...
And there is a *bunch* of 1930-1940-1950 costume jewelry.

Aren’t ‘bakelite’ pieces supposed to be desirable?
Is there any way to tell if any of the costume jewelry is valuable? Some of it is gorgeous..I mean, I wouldn’t wear it bc I’m not into jewelry..to wear. I’m thinking of selling some of the pieces.

Anyone know how to separate out ‘undesirable ‘ costume jewelry ?

I took mine to a second hand jewellery store as they are only interested in things of worth. At least here they are.
Thanks for this!

Pre,

I thought this article re: identifying bakelite was interesting:

Any ideas about this piece? It belonged to my mother but I’ve never seen it before.

It’s only a few inches long. My guess is it’s a pin, but it’s curbed..kind of in a spiral. So I’m not sure. It’s too large to be a ring and too small to be a bracelet..

Sorry, it’s not a poor photo.

I’ve never seen anything like it.

I think you need something sweet, and then soap so they cant escape the surface tension.

I think if you put a piece of fruit in there with the vinegar it works it appeals to them as it goes bad.

I don't know why I am trying to be a good teacher by giving detailed exam feedback.

Because giving everyone an A for just showing up and breathing is a pessimistic view of students. Giving them detailed exam feedback shows hope in human kind that they actually can learn and grow.

Maybe or maybe not. If it is a final exam, I make my own notes on separate paper and wait for students to ask me for detailed feedback which I then provide.

My son loves professors that give feedback. He reads it all and learns from it. He has a horrid government professor right now who is disorganized, impossible to reach for clarification about her syllabus which is full of errors and contradictions, and gives zero feedback on grades so he’s flying blind about what adjustments he needs to make on future assignments.

The latter. But mostly what fun to have some family history. I don't have any.
