I ordered a baseball cap once from Amazon, and it came in a huge cardboard box. Utterly excessive.

Well, so I can get off work at 3pm, that's why!

I can sleep all the way until 5:45a if I wait and shower on my lunch break but I prefer showering in the morning, so 5:15 it is!

I dropped my car off for annual service this morning. I suspect they have to replace the brake pads, too. I have not heard back from them, and attempts to reach them over the past hour have been unsuccessful (a receptionist answers, but no one answers when she transfers me to service department, and I've left a voice mail and a text for the guy in charge of my service). It's a pretty major car dealership, not some tiny one-person shop. We're supposed to leave to get D from camp in like an hour, and I was hoping to get my car first...

My son just texted and said their first night in new place was really nice, he said it feels so much cleaner and nicer there than his old place was. They even got a welcome basket with TP, paper towels, laundry soap and other stuff in it.

I hope you can reach them soon and get your car back quickly! We have been so lucky in that regard, we found a sorta-smallish shop not far from where we live that we take both our cars to, they are awesome there and they know H very well, his car is on their "wall of fame" haha because it has almost 250,000 miles on it and still runs like it's new. He's been taking it there for regular maintenance since we bought it new in 2015.

Whoa - 250,000 miles and you bought it new 4 years ago. That is amazing.

I bought my car used in 2015. It had 44,000 miles on it. Today it turned over to 62,000 miles. LOL. I rarely drive far.

I drive about 1000 miles a year. At this rate, I'm going to have to think about who should inherit my car.

I just made rhubarb compote: serious deliciousness. I may break down and drive to the local ice cream shop and get some really good vanilla.

I don't know...first you should consider whether the marginal benefit of the really good vanilla is worth the marginal cost of the extra wear on your car and the corresponding loss to your heirs, oh, and of course the calories.

The answer to "Is really good vanilla ice cream worth the trip?" is always YES.

You people are the reason why I don't believe my economics textbook when it says that people act rationally, economically speaking.

I mean, if you're going to drive for ice cream, it should be chocolate peanut butter.

If you all recall, one reason I took economics is so I’d get the jokes. Well, I just came across one:

Quote:
An engineer and an economist are on a hike in the forest. They fall down a deep hole. The engineer, looking at the sheer walls and the distant opening way above, says: “We’re going to die down here. We can’t climb out and there’s no one to hear us cry for help.”

“We’ll be fine,” the economist confidently replies, calmly brushing the dirt from his pants. “There’s an easy way out. First, assume a ladder.”
Not only do I get it, but it’s hilarious.

Help me.

This year is the 20th anniversary of me falling in love with computers and the internet.

I have ordered 3 things from Amazon and all have been sensibly packed.

Perhaps australian amazon is better than the u.s. one (it wouldn't be that hard to be better) - I order from the all the time and stuff is never packaged sensibly or well. I have stopped ordering some things because of how miserable the packing is

Do you mean your therapist contacted you about the marriage therapist? Did you agree to let the two of them speak to each other?

Yeah, he's a courier and uses that car. Drives a lot for work! Like today he just called me a few minutes ago from up in Jerome (northern AZ) cuz I love that town. Like a 5 hr drive or something from here.

I don't think so unless Australian Amazon has packaging guidelines that US Amazon doesn't because it all gets shipped from the same supplier.

Aw, shoot. Formerly fat cat went to the vet again today. He'd gained some weight, but he's shrunk again by quite a bit. Poor sweet. We're probably not going to put him through biopsies and treatments. He wouldn't understand, and it wouldn't buy him much more time. So keeping him comfortable until we can't any more is likely what we'll choose to do.

Because our family needs just a little more to deal with.
