Well, at least hordes of lawyers are being kept off the streets. An idle lawyer is not a pretty sight. The devil's workshop and all.

Thanks, y'all. I live in an apartment in a city so there's no hammock/lawn chair option but I did open the window to let some of the niceness in.

The actress playing sheldons mom. Her real mom is "jackie", Roseanne's "sister", among other roles? I dont usually "see" the relation between the two women, as i have read other people comment upon, but it just jumped out at me in that one line you indicate. So i am positing that a reason it resonated with you was not just the content of the line, but the quality of the delivery.

A similar thing happened to me in "Fear Strikes Out", where Karl Malden says something to Anthony Perkins that was just SO chilling, honestly my hair stood on end. I later read Maldens autobiography, and he spoke of that exact moment, how he felt he was kinda channeling his own father.

Its like when fran liebowitz said she was collecting good sentences and storing them in a sentence box and when she has enough she will write another book. I am collecting these moments on tv and film, and when i have enough, i too will write something, but probably on social media. I would need links.

I doubt it was this other thing for me. But wow - watch the danes - who knows what connections you will be able to make.
Laurie Metcalf also played sheldon's mom on big bang theory.

I have watched it several times. I think it is one of the sweetest things I have seen. Plus I like him making faces to keep from crying. He seems to cry at the drop of a hat.

I kept thinking she had the same facial expressions as Laurie Metcalf, but didn't know that the actress was her daughter.

Hi Couchies, I'm at work of course, and the owner is here. We had an hour and a half meeting which was interesting. I don't think I am going to get as much time with the controller next week as I would have liked, but at least I will get some time. I am feeling kind of depressed--what else is new right? Not sure what to expect from T this week. I hope she isn't as wacky as last week. I feel like I need to call her out on that a bit and I'm not much on confrontation but I still don't know WTH that was. Only two hours and 15 minutes left of work today but I'm so ready for the day to be over. But then I have to go to my volunteer job so ugh. I've started the homework for Pastor T but I don't see him until the 28th. He's on a cruise.

At this line that SD points out, to me she SOUNDS exactly like Laurie. Like really elementally.

I went to the Opera this weekend. Turnadot. Not the best opera I've ever seen but still pretty good.

Where I live, they will live stream the MET Opera every two or three weeks or so during the Fall and Spring. So you are watching it in the cinema. But it's cool because in the intermissions they will interview the cast, or the director, or whomever, and you get to see them setting up the stage and stuff. Plus it has the subtitles on the bottom, thank goodness, because otherwise I'd have no idea what was going on.

I once saw a performance of Phantom of the Opera in Vegas - not sure that counts though. If not I have never been to an opera.

You're awfully hard on yourself, sweets. You've got quite a lot going on with all of those littles.

Coming down with something, tired from restless or no sleep, ate something that disagreed, overstimulated... sometimes a little rest and time alone is exactly what a young one needs.

You gave him space to work out whatever he needed to work out, a rest from whatever was driving him to act out. That's wise. And it can even be explained to a four-y.o. just that way, in 4 yo words of course. I did this lots with my kiddos: I can see you're having a hard time right now. Let's give you a break so your body can calm down. A calm body looks like (hands to self, etc.). Well, I can see you're not quite ready to join us yet. After you rest a little more, let's (something calm that he enjoys).

And honestly, some days, nothing works. Everyone just has to make it through and hope that the next day is better. You're an awesome nanny, Jersey.

My boys went to the theater with the youth opera program to watch that.

Thanks WFS. I just feel like I’m out of my realm with him. I don’t have the training or expertise for whatever is going on with this little boy and like you said..today nothing was working.

One of my favorite lesbian movies is on tv - Desert Hearts - it is by Jane Rule, still one of my favorite lesbian authors. It is not modern - decidedly not. But it does have two of my favorite scenes between women in it and one of my all time favorite lines:
"When I retire I will simply write a short story for my revenge: about this town, these people, these gamblers. My only clear memory is arriving, the rest is a blur."

My sexual seppuku story got good reactions. And, as there is a therapist in it whose advice sets off the whole horrible series of events, I was pleased to hear some anti-therapist comments too.

Spreadin’ the word.
