Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

CNS, maybe you know this—is it possible to make a good fondue without gluten in it?

I made H take me to Hobby Lobby to get stuff to make my daughters' costumes. So I'm going to try to keep myself busy the rest of the weekend doing that.

i ordered some inexpensive paintbrushes off amazon, so i can make some more little paintings. the dollar store paintbrushes are already falling apart haha. painting is fun and takes my mind off of worrying about what L is going to say next week about my tequiila-fueled email of Thursday night. I sorta wish I had just left well enough alone but at the same time now I have a chance to talk about the stuff I had been afraid to say. Namely that I want to work with someone else for awhile.

Yes, normal fondue never has gluten in it (well the bread does, but I assume you have a gluten free option for that).
To serve 2 people you need 400 grams of cheese, about 0.6 cups of wine and 2 teaspoons of corn starch. That's it. Corn starch is gluten free, so that should work.

Is it still running away if it feels more like self-preservation?! Asking for a friend.

Sometimes running away is choosing safety, answering as a chronic run awayer lol

I am having cheese. My friends want "real food" for dinner which is just nonsense. I'm sticking with cheese, and wine.

Sitting looking out the window at the view of the mountain. Gorgeous. Peaceful.

Depends. Is what's being preserved the self one wants to be?

There is a third option: not running away, not upping the ante by re-engaging, but choosing a different therapist fork in the road.

The world does not have to a black/white place.

I have a problem with seeing that there are usually more than 2 options to situations, don't I? Thanks for saying that. And I like the way you said it.

y'know current 'fork' told me that story the other day about the man walking down the road and falling in the hole every time, then at some point starting to walk around it, and then finally walking down a different road altogether. Was she trying to tell me something?!?!?!

I made the crowns already for my daughters' costumes. Have to add stuff to their dresses next. They're being Princess peach and princess daisy from Mario. My boys are going to be Mario and Luigi.

Usually stories are meant to tell someone something if they're open to it, yes.

Was she telling you to leave her? Doubtful.

Was she telling you need to change your approach and stop making the same mistakes, whether with her or someone else? Yes.

Don't read too much into it. She doesn't have ESP. Just focus on the lesson of the story.

SheHulk, you are talented. My mom would make our Halloween costumes and it meant a lot to us.

When I was a kid we had this huge box of old clothes, scarves, hats, parts of costumes, all kinds of stuff I don't know where it all came from but my siblings and I dug through it every year to piece together our costumes. I always enjoyed that.
