K for not committing suicide or self harm are ridiculous in my opinion. If I was going to do such a thing the fact the therapist had coerced me into signing one would not keep me from doing anything I wanted to do.

Zapatoes, in my experience, when therapists or other mental health people said contract for safety, they meant a verbal contract and not a written one. I think it's very rare that contracting for safety entails the client signing some sort of document.

Zapatoes, in the papers my psychologist made me sign said she's a mandated reporter and required by law to report a patient if she feels they are about to commit suicide. The papers also asked if I've been suicidal and do I have a plan. During the session she explained that she would only call the police if she thought I was going to commit suicide.

I was very surprised to learn of such a thing. I guess it's one reason why they keep such meticulous records.

Yep!!! It’s serious stuff....

That being said I have been on the other side. Once I told a social worker student I was suicidal. It was a Friday and she made me call daily to leave a message I was ok and if I did t call by 6pm daily she’d call my emergency contact
Also had a cop show up at my door at 2am for being too honest in a crisis chat room. I WAS suicidal but did NOT have a firearm. That cop called EMS and I was almost taken against my will to er.
