He shouldn’t be upset about me calling or emailing to change or confirm appointment times.

I agree that you should be able to contact to confirm appointment times. My T said he doesn't even "count" emails/texts about scheduling. I imagine it was just that on top of the other calls/emails. |

Hope, i don't think you should quit, therapy often brings up uncomfortable feelings and it's okay to be angry. Your t is willing to help you through it. Please try to keep on your meds. I am sorry he lectured you the whole time, it's hard. You will get through this just please don't quit because of this. It will be okay your therapist will help you with finding other coping skills. My therapist allows me to phone her if i need that extra support. I know i just can't call every day. Hugs

Hope, you've said that you've been denied disability because you have funds in a trust that disqualify you.
Can you ask the trustee to send you some money to repair your car or to pay for transport to the pharmacy? Staying consistent on your meds is critical. Going on and off may be contributing to your difficulties. I'm rooting for you. |

But doesn't he have an office staff? Those kinds of questions would seem better directed to them with a simple phone call confirming your appointment times.

There’s no more funds in the trust so I can’t ask them for help fixing the vehicle.

Maybe you could look into a mail order pharmacy to get the meds sent directly to your home.
Sounds like it might be worth reapplying to disability. You could talk to him about it at the next appointment and see if he thinks you're eligible. What are you living on if there isn't any more money in the trust?

No more trust funds is not great but now that wont necessarily get you denied for disability benefits.
It's not an easy process, I know from first hand experience. We have an adult disabled child that receives state disability benefits. She has been disabled since birth and still the process to obtain benefits for her is challenging and ongoing. So, I know its hard. But maybe you can ask your Dr for help with the application process? How are you able to live day to day if you're not able to work? I'm not trying to be intrusive. Just want to suggest some options that might help you. |

If you do go back, remember to follow his rules. You mentioned that he won't continue to work with you if you keep calling and emailing them constantly. With your previous psychiatrist, you went to court. You don't want to go through that again.
Maybe a female therapist would be better. Also, even if you don't go back, I wouldn't continue to contact him. Then you would end up in trouble again. Last edited by Shotokan; Jan 29, 2020 at 02:00 PM. |

Hope, I am sorry that you are going through this. It must be really hard. You also said that being off of your medications caused a lot of confusion. Is it possible that you have been contacting him /his staff about other things without realizing it? I am not saying this to be mean. But, if he is saying that he wants to terminate you over excessive contact, it sounds like there may be more to the calls than what you remember. Do you have a social worker? Social workers can help you with applying for disability, medicaid benefits, and obtaining transportation. Last edited by Shotokan; Jan 29, 2020 at 02:12 PM. |

He didn’t say he was going to terminate me right now. I have a chance to get back in line.
I’ve been trying to cancel my appointment for next week but I don’t think they cancelled it because they didn’t notify me. In the past, when I’ve had to cancel, they let me know. I definitely don’t want to go next week. If things end with him, I am not going back to therapy. |

I know that he didn't terminate you now. He said that if you KEEP CONSTANTLY contacting them, he will. You said that in one of your previous posts. So, I would just keep your appointment and work things out with him. In the meantime, do not contact them/him anymore. Otherwise, he may just call you and terminate. |

He does allow me to email him the day before my session and he said that I can call if I’m really struggling and remain patient until he calls.
I explained that email fiasco to him. I was in absolute agony so I kept begging him to prescribe something to help that go away. I had also been awake for 4 days so I had a meltdown. I’m not concerned about the email thing because it isn’t too difficult to go without email contact. |

If trust is gone you need to apply for disability. If you are unable to work and have no other funds you have no other options but go on disability at leasr temporarily

I am confused about something so please excuse my ignorance. I am just trying to understand the situation. It has been suggested many times that you try for disability or Medicaid and such. However you say because of your trust you get denied. Then your car needs repairs and people suggest getting money from the trust but then you say the trust has no money left in it. So which is it? Not trying to be rude I just want to understand.

Hope, can you please answer crook32's post?
I would really like to help in some way but it's hard to offer suggestions when you supply contradictory info or choose not to respond. I think everyone here is trying to help and would love to see you find some peace. |

I have some work tutoring and as a caregiver. My brother and sister have checks too so we’re okay overall. Even when there was money in the trust, it didn’t help with our household expenses so we won’t have any effect from it because we didn’t have access to use it as we wanted.

I didn’t see the post right away because I hadn’t gotten to that post yet. I would have answered it when I saw it.
And there was never contradictory information. People on this site assume stuff about me a lot. |

Do you have a social worker? A social worker can help you with your situation. That is what they are trained to do.
I don't think people are assuming things about you. We go by what you tell us. Even if you are tutoring, you can still get disability depending on how much you make. Many people work part time and get disability. |

I'm sorry you're having difficulty hope. When you leave your appointment is that when they schedule your next appointment, if so doesn't the office staff give you a piece of paper with the appointment written down I know they always do that when I go to my psychiatrist if not why don't you ask them to write it down for you so you don't have to keep emailing or calling to confirm your appointments. You are right they shouldn't get upset with you for calling to reschedule or change your appointments but if you do it too often I can see where that can cause difficulty with the doctor trying to fill your slot. Is it possible to get a standing time each week so that you don't have to keep changing appointment times?

Posters are trying to offer suggestions to help Hope get to a better place. She is asking for help. We are not badgering.
Hope, we are listening to what you are telling us. If you choose to share information we might have useful suggestions. If you would prefer not to reveal details about your life that is absolutely your right. Like Shotokan said, you are able to have some income and still qualify for disability. There are income and asset restrictions but from what you have posted, it doesn't seem that this poses a problem. Your siblings benefit payments should not affect your disability application. I speak from experience and am attempting to offer useful info. It's difficult, I get that. I hope that someone here is able to suggest an option that you would choose to pursue. Wishing you the best. |
