Zoom session with Dr. T felt much better today compared to Friday. Hiding my image helped quite a bit, because before I was avoiding looking at the screen much because it made me self-conscious (like if he had a mirror behind him in session). And we joked around some, which helped with the connection. Was mostly me talking about how I'm/we're (as a family) struggling to deal with situation right now, and him being really empathetic and validating. Which is really what I needed right now. He said he wished he had more answers/solution, and I said I didn't expect him to. Though he did suggest some stuff to try with D, like making this into "Camp LT" and scheduling stuff. Maybe having her stuffed animals help with suggesting ideas. And then if she doesn't like one later, say, "Well, Bunny wanted to do that."

And he said I know where to find him if I need him. Which, yes, I knew, but it meant a lot. Plus he didn't charge me for a rather long email reply Saturday because he said this is a really challenging time for everyone.

Had a panic attack in my therapist's office today. That was fun. I noticed he had his fist clenched in the middle of it so I wonder if watching me was making him anxious.

Hugs, NP. That's happened to me a few times, and it sucks...

As far as making him anxious, today, Dr. T said he was stressed out just hearing me talk about some stuff with D. I said, "I'm sorry for adding to your stress," and he said he didn't mean it in that way. If your T is particularly empathic, he might have been sort of feeling your feelings. Did he help you through the panic attack at all?
Thanks for this!

Well, I'm not sure that kind of thing is his forte and I do recall him saying something to that effect a long time ago in a different context. He just sat with me for a bit then he finally said something about trying to feel present in the room and to feel my feet on the floor. That was only marginally effective. I'm not really bothered that that's all he came up with. I'm just glad he sat there with me in that moment.

It is kind of interesting - they save old hens from factory farms and keep them as pets that might or might not lay some eggs. Right now - they are laying eggs and they had a lot of them.

my wee country (4.7m people) is preparing for four weeks of total lockdown (except for essential services/workers), starting in just over 24hrs time. it's a bit daunting and also essential while our COVID-19 numbers are still low (155 cases, 0 deaths) but rising. hopefully four weeks of hardship will save lives and protect our health system from complete overwhelm. it's likely to trash our economy in the process, but the government is putting all kinds of strategies and supports in place to hopefully mitigate some of it at least.

my young person lives mostly with their dad now (for schooling reasons), and because i have moderate-severe asthma, we decided it was safer for my health for them to stay put rather than shift everything here for four weeks, or me to go to them for four weeks, as we'd run the risk of possibly carrying or picking up undetected infection along the way. so i'm hunkering down for four weeks of alone time. yikes! i do have a lot of experience at isolating with PTSD, but usually only for 2-3 days at a time, not a whole month.

thank goodness for all the various online means of keeping in contact with the outside world. i might just curl up on a corner of the couch for a while, if that's okay.
