I was watching the met hd performance of Macbeth and then Joseph dream coat. And baking bread.
I was too sticky and floury to post.

And here I am trying to resist the lure of the old-school RPG games from my favorite indie developer.

I could really go for killing a few dragons right now.

Woke up at 3:30am again. Tried to go back to sleep but no luck. Decided to take a bath, which was nice. But I have to get up at 6 to go to work so no chance of going back to sleep now.

Looks like I have tomorrow off, and maybe Tuesday too. That will be good because my face is really starting to hurt from these N95 masks—the marks are still here this morning even though I took the mask off last night at 7:30 or so.

Chihirochild - maybe applying some anti-chafing cream at night could help. I guess you probably couldn't put it on when you're wearing the mask if that could compromise the fit - I don't know enough about that stuff to know. But anti-chafing ointment is soothing. If you're allowed to wear makeup, it could help to apply a silicone-based face primer. I was once at a conference in Vegas and my inner thighs started chafing so badly due I guess to the combination of a lot of walking, intense heat, and wearing a dress. I had some face primer on hand and slapped that on the area and it helped SO much.

Poor new cat--I put my mask on in front of her and her little eyes got huge. I leaned down and held out my hand to show her it was still me and she bolted off to hide.

Suddenly (as in the last two days), ToddlerManatee seems to be understanding a lot more of what I am saying. It's like a language switch flipped in her brain. The book we were just reading had a kid holding a doll, so I pointed to it and said, "Where is your doll? Maybe she wants to hear the story too." And she raced over to the toy area and grabbed her doll. I've been talking to her every day for over a year, and it has kind of been like talking to my dog, but now she definitely understands me!

In related news, I need to stop cursing so much.

Way to go, ToddlerManatee!

I hope the reduction in cursing goes smoothly.

Son and I were supposed to see Les Mis next week. Also our summer Shakespeare tickets got canceled. I am trying to be okay with this because I don't really have a choice and because people being alive is more important than getting to see The Tempest.

I just realized my library has a subscription to "Great Courses."

For some reason, I'm drawn to "Infectious Diseases"...

I am listening to the history of food and I have a course on language (the secret life of words English Words and their Origins) on deck - so far it is really good. I have to say that infectious diseases is not on my top ten list. I do have another one about powerful forgotten women in history (or something like that) in my list as well. If I was going to listen to a medical one it would be the Medical lies and Half Truths one - but it would probably just piss me off so I probably won't

I’m starting to miss that feeling of total immersion I got in swimming pools. I’m wondering if getting a big plastic trash can and filling it with water and hunkering down in it would produce the same effect. Like a Japanese barrel bath.

trying to do some 'i need to stop thinking and worrying so much' crocheting today. playing around with different flower patterns. I like the 3rd one the most, might make a few more and sew them together into a scarf or something.

Limited apartment space, plus what if it leaks? I could fit a plastic trash can in my shower, much less sure about an inflatable hot tub.
