Artie, your post made me think of something I said to T today. How the first Zoom session I had, I put on regular makeup. The next, I just put on lipstick (I have really pale lips). The one yesterday with D's T and today's with Dr. T, no makeup at all. He was amused (and said he couldn't tell). He said he'd not using any makeup either (and appears to be growing out his beard again--kept stroking it).
Thanks for this!

I could deal with those two things if it weren't for the wooden and stilted over- acting. Where do they manage to find so many people with absolutely no acting ability at all?

I do like that show. Altho sometimes the american version seems overly scripted and not as improvised. The old UK versions were the best.

I sawa behind the scenes video and they have a team of censors who would step in say you cant do that you might offend x y z. The guys reaction to the censors was the funniest things. At one point a censor said that there was a pastor and an17 year old girl in the audience and Drew Carey turns around says well you wanted free tickets to a show and shrugs his shoulders

I had a false negative test. Either for the flu or COVID. I’m not sure which, but one of them. A nurse friend of mine confirmed that they’ve been seeing lots of false negatives for COVID. Regardless, I was running a fever last night and work’s current protocol is 48 hours fever free. So I’ll likely go back to work on Friday. What a fine time I chose to get out of teaching. Our schools are closed for the rest of the year.

But I remind myself that my mental health is more important.

Just realised that the people on my local fb page complaining about their children maybe having to repeat a year of school are most likely the ones sending the kids to private school and paying $40 000 AUD a year.

Hopefully no one has to repeat. I know here they’re passing everyone (whether they should be or not).

Oh, that's good to know. My county so far has just extended the schools being closed to April 24, but I don't know how they'll handle it if closed for the full school year. To me, they got through about two-thirds of the school year, so it seems like they should just let everyone pass to the next year, for seniors to graduate, etc. I think they're starting distance learning for middle and high school in a few weeks--elementary wouldn't start unless they extend the break longer. We have some packets for my D to work on, but none of it's required.

Schools aren't going to retain students for missing learning during this national emergency. A student who was already not passing, not meeting objectives, etc. prior to this point might be considered for retention, but it would probably have to go through committee.

Trust me. As teachers, we are being told that while we are trying to at least carry on with some sort of learning experiences, the priority is safety, etc. We are doing our best to reconfigure what we are doing, but it varies widely from district to district, state to state. Patience.

I have an appointment (telehealth) with my case manager/care coordinator tonight. I am very happy to get to speak to her. It's been a little over two weeks since we last spoke. HUGS all, Kit

Yay, i finally got my drivers license updated to zipcar. So now i dont have that as an excuse not to go to my drs appt, unfortunately!

It only took me 5 calls to find somebody at the help desk to tell me to click on the 3 dots (i know, i shoulda been smart enough to figure that out myself, which is why im telling you all).

One of the 3 dots options was to "use phone as desktop". Has anybody ever heard of this? No more going to the library to use the computer when you only have a phone? Is this a google thing? Have i just never noticed it before? Am i a dummy?

Some places have a regular (desktop) website with more features and then a stripped down, easier-to-read version for mobile users. Often the site will detect what kind of device you're using to access it and automatically send you to that version. This is usually fine unless you need to access some features that's on the regular website and you only have a phone. Then you sometimes get the option to switch to the regular site on your mobile phone so you can access that feature. Does that sound like what happened?

I am so NOT doing well. Teaching on zoom -> overwhelming. Emails from school -> too much uncertainty -> overwhelming. Own kids don't want to do online HW. Husband (phd in math) is now helping son on math test. Okay - this is precisely why we don't trust online tests! Left home for 1.5 hr walk last night then drove to church to sleep in parking lot to 3am. I cannot be at home. word is insane. Did i say I wasn't doing well?

I made social distancing chocolate chip muffins last night. Help yourselves.

I put in extra chips, so they are not social distancing.

Yes, only the opposite. I went to the desktop site because the mobile site kept telling me to go to a real computer. Then it showed me only the one thing i could not update from the mobile site. And i updated it, and now its all hunky dory. But i wish the first person had told me about this. Then again, it was a good benchmark - i did not get all freaked out, and i apologized when appropriate, and was enthusiastically grateful when it was done.

Eta - plus this and my experience with getting my health insurance payments resolved have left me feeling competent for the first time in my life. I am NOT missing my mother putting me down after a successful accomplishment. That may be redundant but im trying to make up for lost time!!

My gradeschool classmate who is stuck in Ecuador may be coming home soon! Like in a day or two! To Houston, anyway. Then back up here. So glad. How horrifying. We are too old for this kind of adventure. All our hair is already white. Again, grateful for being poor and all the bad decisions i made in my life that have me stuck here!
