I learned on some podcast or other that in olden days, bananas tasted different and more like banana flavoring. The flavoring was formulated based on how bananas tasted back then, not how they taste now.

I don't think I would have liked bananas back then.

My diabetic cat is getting weaker and is starting to have a hard time jumping up on my bed. I've read that diabetes can cause that, so I think it's time to get him back to the vet in case his insulin needs to be changed. Or if it's something else. I need to call and see if they are even open right now. I'm sad thinking of him deteriorating. We've had him and his brother since they were little baby kittens for like 13 years. They're part of the family.

So sorry about your kitty Artie. My diabetic kitty is slowing down slowly but I can tell. Or it might be the cancer that she has that is speeding up. I don't know. I hope I know when I need to say goodbye to her. Cats are good at not showing their pain. I don't want her to be in pain. HUGS Kit

Felt a bit like I needed to go to the hospital this weekend. But maybe I just need a day off of work to clear my head and rest and stuff. I thought about calling in today but I needed to do payroll.

Pretty sure I made Dr. T cry today. I mean, I was being pretty depressing...I imagine this is a very difficult time to be a therapist. Like he said how pretty much all of his clients are struggling right now.

He said my dealing with the changes due to Covid--the staying at home, etc. is basically a grieving process. That I'm grieving the changes in my life. And having trouble with the acceptance part, of the new normal. He had some suggestions for ways to find joy now that I intend to try. But I think it helps to think of it as grieving.

I'm sorry your cat is having trouble, Artie. Do you think he would be amenable to using steps? I got some inexpensive steps for my chihuahua at Walmart. He loves them. He can technically jump up on the bed, but sometimes he doesn't make it and bounces off the edge. I have a really thick mattress, so my bed is kind of high. When I put foam floor protectors under the feet, it pushed the height a bit over what he cares to deal with.

Most definitely. There is a difference, and we can generally tell.

Students who haven't done a lick of work in five weeks have suddenly been cured in the last 24 hours as the deadline approaches of whatever ailed them and turned in a bunch of work all at once - much of it crappy because it was rushed. The irritation is not with students who are legitimately struggling - quite honestly, those students have stuck with it and managed enough to get by; they've communicated with us and we've worked out plans to get through that they have honored - it is with those that have, by their own admission, spent their time playing video games, sleeping in late simply because they can, generally doing nothing because they decided they weren't going to be held accountable. That's not you, NP.

Senior cat loved her steps when she got older and slowed down.

thanks for the idea. i'm going to try that. our bed is pretty high, too. he's still okay jumping up on the sofa and chairs. but he's always liked sleeping on our bed,and he hasn't been the last couple nights.

I have had cats who stopped jumping on the bed when they were elderly - they usually lived a year or so more but I got them little heated cat beds that they loved.

Dried bananas seem to be a dog treat hit although admittedly it is not a high bar. The only things they won't eat that I know of are lettuce, cheerios, and some truly horrible gnocchi from trader joes. I don't get the appeal of gnocchi either so the issue of eat or don't eat doesn't often come up for them. With the gnocchi - the dogs will put them in their mouths, but then carry them to the living room where they spit them out onto the rug and just leave the wretched things there for me to step on.

I need to get out more. Er, I mean, think out of the box shopping online more. I've never seen heated cat beds. Going to check out chewy.com and other websites for them now. Thank you, I bet my Rascal would like one.
